    How to memorise exact values for trig?

    My teacher made our class memorise it and be able to recall each of them when he randomly asked. If we'd forget he'd give us detention.

    How to do this integration question?

    Just let the triangle be called A; semi-circle with Domain 1\leq{x}\leq3 be called B and the semi-circle with Domain 3\leq{x}\leq5 called C. Let h(x)=A+B+C where: \int^{1}_{-3}A\, dx=\frac{1}{2}(4)(2)=4 \int^{3}_{1}B\, dx=-\frac{(1)^{2}\pi}{2} \int^{5}_{3}C\, dx=\frac{(1)^{2}\pi}{2} Thus...

    How to do this integration question?

    Definite integration is not restricted purely to finding the area/volume under a function. Part a just wants you to evaluate the definite integral whilst part b wants you to find the area. To find the area of a semi-circle you use the formula \frac{{\pi}r^{2}}{2}

    Macbook Air vs Pro for University?

    If you need to do lots of heavy rendering work then you should get the Pro, otherwise for taking down notes etc. you only need the Air (great battery life, more portable + cheaper)

    changing courses and possibly UNis

    Pretty much all disciplines are competitive, changing your degree to commerce or something else doesn't mean you'll get a high paying job/or one at all. Plus, what's the point of doing something that you have no interest in at all for your entire career?

    What do you do in your exam reading time?

    Try not laugh when you hear people around you mutter under breath "I'm fked", "what the...", "is that even in the syllabus?"

    Do these happen in HSC maths marking?

    You should still cross out very lightly (e.g. A single streak that still leaves your working out legible just in case.) For HSC, you have to use black/blue pens for diagrams but for school you should ask your teacher if you're allowed pencils.

    Implicit D

    It's not in the syllabus so I wouldn't do it in the HSC. You can ask your teacher if you can for internal assessments OR you can do can do it discreetly e.g. Do it on a scrap piece of paper or something like that.

    MATH1111 - most important gen math topics?

    Don't bother with a general math textbook, it will be almost completely irrelevant to MATH1111 (which assumes year 10 math anyways). If you're gonna borrow a textbook you should definitely have a lot at the 2-unit ones (yr 11 for algebra). It is most important to get your algebra skills up to...

    Chem 1011 help!

    Chem1101 only assumes Prelim chem so it shouldn't be too difficult as long as you apply yourself. Unless the second year course has a prerequisite/assumed knowledge of Chem1101, doing Chem1001 would put you at much of a disadvantage. I would recommend Chem1101 anyways.

    HSC 2015 MX1 Marathon (archive)

    Re: HSC 2015 3U Marathon Should be \frac{du}{dx}=\frac{1}{x} not du=\frac{1}{x}dx. Don't mistake this for u substitution which is for integration, the "u" used for the quotient rule is just a variable in the general form for the QR \frac{u'v-v'u}{v^2}.

    Easy but hard sketching question?

    Let u=lnx and v=x u'=\frac{1}{x} and v'=1 \frac{dy}{dx}=\frac{\frac{1}{x}(x)-(1)lnx}{x^2} \frac{dy}{dx}=\frac{1-lnx}{x^2}
