Chemistry vs Physics. A few questions.

I would also recommend a geophysics major for the mining industry.

Chemistry vs Physics. A few questions.

If you want to work in engineering, then a single BE is sufficient. Adding another degree may not be so advantageous. Subjectively speaking, physics would be a lot harder in undergraduate and I've heard the difficulty jumps significantly during the later years (conceptually and mathematically)...

Think they're outta print, had to buy a 2nd hand copy when I did my HSC.

Is using maths in focus a waste of time

Definitely get cambridge + fitz if you can. The questions go into much more depth and difficulty. I used both effectively and it proved advantageous against people who only used MIF.

    Transfer into Pharmacy second year?

Yes you can transfer into second year if you choose the right subjects so that you can get enough credits transferred. Just make sure you meet the prerequisites for your second year subjects. Make sure you get decent grades too and have a credit average or higher.

    That's why I said mainly.

Help on choosing the right subject

Tbh science in HSC is mainly rote learning. Very little critical/analytical skills needed and the majority of calculations are in a plug and chug fashion. You should give it a go and see how you like it. Be wary of people going chemistry and physics scales well (scaled quite terribly in 2013 &...

Which offer should I pick? The offer from maq or uts?

For engineering I'd say UTS since MQ's engineering is relatively new and the majority of their courses haven't been accredited by EA yet. Btw which majors for engineering/science?? MQ has a good reputation especially for life/environmental sciences. Also I iirc that MQ finds the internship...

(Integration), what did I do wrong?

    [\frac{x^3-4x^2-2}{2x}]^{2}_{1} = \frac{(2)^3-4(2)^2-2}{2(2)}-[\frac{(1)^3-4(1)^2-2}{2(1)}]=0

    Yeah i just realised lol

(Integration), what did I do wrong?

    ^^^ Beat me to it lol You can separate them like this: {\int^{2}_{1}\frac{x^3}{x^2}\, dx-\int^{2}_{1}\frac{2x^2}{x^2}\, dx-{\int^{2}_{1}\frac{1}{x}\, dx}

Advice to students who just got an offer for Engineering and IT at Sydney

I see, so apart from vectors and integration is there any other maths involved? How long do the "long quizzes" go for?

    Modern history vs Economics

Both have heavy workloads and can be very tedious if you do not enjoy the subject (esp if your school chooses something boring for MH). Economics may have slighter harder content but MH can be very reliant on your memory and essay writing skills. MH exams (trials & HSC) are a BITCH, you have MC...

    How does transferring work?

It generally depends on how many relevant credit points you are transferred (e.g. core units) and if you meet the prerequisites for your preferred subjects immediate UoS then you may be able to transfer directly into 2nd year. Thus, it would be advisable to pick as many law electives possible...
