Fav. Teacher sayings?

    "Life sucks and then you die." -Math teacher "Nifty." - Physics teacher "Yes and No." - English teacher (answer to any closed question you will ever ask :P) "S . T . O . P" - yr 9/10 Geography "Have you ever seen a mirco wave? No!? *wiggles pink* Well now you have!" - yr 9 Science

    implicit differentiaon/ sketching it

    At a point where dy/dx = 0 you have a stationary point and where dy/dx--->∞ you end up with vertical tangents. Taking an example from a textbook: x2 + y2 = xy +3 (do the implicit thing) (x-2y)dy/dx=(2x-y) stationary points will exist where 2x-y=0 and...

    Metrosexual

    Yes, it's an unfortunate fact of life. I have an old pair of size 34's from about 3-4 years ago and they are a great fit with a nice amount of baggy-ness and nice sized pockets with crotch space to boot. These days, now that 95% of jeans are metro, a size 34 still fits fine, but will be tight...

    Metrosexual

    All I ask is that the world once again make non-metro jeans. Crotch space no longer exists!!! ... and stretchy material certainly doesn't compensate for tightness.

    ANY1 STILL HAVEN"T STARTED WRITING IT?

    I'm not quite sure what to do. I have a definate idea, but I think it might be a bit too much to pull off and considering that I havn't even started yet... unless I get a sudden surge of creativity in the next week and write 15 minutes worth of play I think I might have to drop.

    complex No. Q

    I didn't really think much about the range, it's just a kind of an assumption I came to at first glance given the question asked. In your answer I believe the curve passes through (2,0) at which point arg(z-2) is undefined i.e ---> arg(z-2)=-arg(z-3+2i) falls apart. When the curve goes above y=0...

    Where -2 < y < 0 (or rather y < 0 working with the natural tendencies of the graph) ... nice work.

    I need help,thankyou.

    Hey, I did the survey and I thought you might want to reconsider the answers to question 5 in the non-smoker questionaire. Their scope just seems a bit limited.

    A Clockwork Orange

    While watching clockwork orange, did anyone else note that we were experiencing the same treatment as alex when we viewed the violence that pervades the film ? After reading the book I found it hard to watch a movie of it... it didn't quite seem to work within the ideas of the original text.

    complex No. Q

    This may be something of a punt but I expect the range of the locus of P would be -2 < y < 0 . EDIT: Since outside of this range arg(z-2) and arg(z-3+2i) will be of the same sign hence arg(z-2)=-arg(z-3+2i) wont hold. And when y= -2 or 0 weird stuff happens :P. (Just to justify my statement)

    Does Gen Maths Scale U Down

    So when you said that "Maths and English is like cats and dogs " in that people hate one and like the other you actually meant that they don't get along? Interesting... I'd suggest that too many people get pigeon holed and caught up in the idea that english and mathematics are incompatible...

    integration area question

    Haha, dude, learn to write the question right :P. y = x<sup>2</sup>-2x- 3 = (x-3)(x+1) i.e integrate between -1 and 3 {-1-->3} ∫ x<sup>2</sup>-2x- 3 =[1/3.x<sup>3</sup> -x<sup>2</sup> -3x] {-1-->3} =[-9 - (1 2/3)] = -10 2/3 hence the area under the curve is 10 2/3 units<sup>2</sup>

    integration area question

    Just integrate the curve between 0 and 1? Which you can do by substitution or the automated: ∫(ax+b)<sup>n</sup>dx = (ax+b)<sup>n+1</sup>/a(n+1) +C {0-->1} ∫2(x-3)<sup>-2</sup>dx = [-2/(x-3)] {0-->1} = 1 - 2/3 = 1/3

    integration area question

    just factorise it to find the x-intercepts so y=(1-2x)(x+3) i.e y=0 when x=-3, 1/2 so you just integrate y = -2x<sup>2</sup>-5x+3 between -3 and 1/2 {-3-->1/2} ∫-2x<sup>2</sup>-5x+3 dx =[-2/3.x<sup>3</sup> -5/2.x<sup>2</sup> +3x]{-3-->1/2) = [19/24 - (-13 1/2)] =14 7/24 I hope I...

    Private Schools

With our influx of funds (from the sale of public property and whatnot) we built a new "performing arts facility" which only consisted of two rehearsal rooms topped by an enormous staff room along with another high quality admin block at the other end of the school...
