University Choice Help! - Comm/Compsci UNSW vs IT/Actuarial MacQ

Rankings don't always give an accurate description when two unis are so close together. Sure if your comparing a uni ranked top 50 vs top 150 then yes the rankings will be influential. However for Engineering as a broad Unsw ranks much higher(CS falls under engineering) than Usyd, and yes even...

University Choice Help! - Comm/Compsci UNSW vs IT/Actuarial MacQ

For the love of god do not go USYD for Comp sci. I can speak from a friend I know who went there. Please if you want to do Comp sci go UNSW, it'll save you a lot of pain.

University Choice Help! - Comm/Compsci UNSW vs IT/Actuarial MacQ

Wrong, it's the other way around. Math is best in USYD and Computer Science UNSW.

University Choice Help! - Comm/Compsci UNSW vs IT/Actuarial MacQ

Well if you don't see yourself doing anything with actuary then I recommend comm/comp sci at unsw. You can major there in cyber security which is actually what I'm majoring in as well. Ranking wise I think iirc Macquarie is the best for actuary specifically but for tech you really want to go to...

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

Just as a note: You can do sig figs on your calculator. Some people actually don't know this.

    velocity question

    Yeah I'm getting (B) as well? I measured r_Q as 6cm and r_P as 3cm approximately. It really doesn't matter that much. Using the ratio we get \dfrac{V_{qesc}}{V_{porb}} = \dfrac{\sqrt{\dfrac{2GM}{r_Q}}}{\sqrt{\dfrac{GM}{r_P}}} = \sqrt{\dfrac{2r_P}{r_Q}} = \sqrt{\dfrac{2\times 3cm}{6cm}} = 1

HSC Chemistry Exam Solutions / Thoughts

Funnily enough as most schools do, mine does this assembly where they call hsc students back for our atars and recognition of our achievements(band 6's etc). And long story short our school literally *gave* us band 6's lol. Most people are going up and just looking at the big screen going wtf...

    questions about physics

Correct. If you think about it in terms of vectors you gain a much better understanding. The acceleration in the vertical direction keeps on increasing the length of the vertical velocity vector but the horizontal velocity vector stays the same. This constantly changes the direction of the net...

    questions about physics

Think about it this way. When your inside the bus the string is cut the very moment the bus begins to decelerate. What this means is you have a horizontal acceleration compared to the ball which has zero horizontal acceleration. Now as we know the ball has gravity acting on it which is purely...

    questions about physics

Yeah why not. If they wanna ask a question that is somewhat conceptually difficult to explain for a lot of the Physics cohort they would go with relativity and give some weird scenario. Of course that's right. That's exactly what I wrote but more concise. Don't @ me, I was trying to explain it...

    bead on string circular motion

Your on the right track, the question does involve the Fc and Tension and what not, but why would the mass on the bottom experience Fnet? The mass on the bottom is stationary and it provides the Tension force of the string(hint: You need to use this).

    questions about physics

Of course, this is what I explained in my second paragraph. Oh and remember it's not a horizontal 'force' but horizontal velocity. You would lose marks if it was a long response question and you said horizontal force. Be careful =) This is an incorrect explanation. The ball doesn't fall just...

    questions about physics

................ projectile motion is parabolic is it not? The ball has an initial horizontal velocity as the bus is moving before the string breaks... i.e. it will undergo projectile motion which wouldn't be vertically down because there's a horizontal velocity

    questions about physics

Think about it carefully. When the ball is attached to the string the ball is essentially a 'part' of the bus in the sense that whatever motion the bus will undergo, the ball will undergo too (from an outsiders perspective). Suppose the bus breaks while the ball is attached to the string, this...

I dont know how to study properly

On the contrary I did so bad for all my English internals, but my schools internal moderation for English standard was so large lol. I got nothing but 60s in all assessments and my final mark was 85(external and internal) imao. I thought I would never reach my course requirement of a 96 atar lol.

    Mathematics Extension 1 Exam Predictions/Thoughts

Cool down! That's a great mark and would align to like 95/96 which is a great mark, and either way as long as you get into your course which you most likely will why does it matter? You have years of uni life to prove yourself. It is just the HSC =) don't feel down about it.

    Worth going to schoolies?

Peer pressure goes a long way. When you surround yourself with people like that, it's a statistical probability that you will slowly get into it too. Not saying everyone will but I personally prefer not to surround myself with people who drink so much and do drugs. Also another factor of safety...
