Yeah I totally agree. And in fact it may be to your advantage to have a text that is quite different to Immigrant Chronicle because when you go to do your synthesis, it's probably a bit better to highlight differences rather than similarities.

Our teacher taught us to firstly have the basics i.e. intro, body pghs + topic sentence, conclusion. Then you add "magical technical analysis" (i.e. techniques) and thesis references as much as possible.

Depends. Do you go to a selective school ranked pretty high in the state? If not, you're screwed...especially since I think schools like James Ruse tend to do the more complex modules, texts, etc.

My teacher (HSC marker) told me that by the time you get to your conclusion your mark has been well and truly decided. You might lose 1 mark just because you didn't have completeness, etc.

Do you have any sort of specific topic/thesis to discuss? If you're looking for just a generic speech, I'd probably go with something about connection to a particular place or maybe even human interconnectedness. I guess poems would be a good start. I.e. Keats, Tennyson, etc.

Anything's possible really but you have to remember that there's quite a few genius types i.e. philosophical genius, literary genius and so forth. From that point, it's just a matter of choosing subjects which best fit into that mold.

Haha, I reckon. Still, personally I believe every one of us has something that we're really awesome at; fortunately for some people it's school and studying...
