    Rules for Staff

OMG I agree! I used to always get a sweet onion chicken teriyaki sub toasted, and the bread would be lovely and warm but the chicken would still be cold...yuck!

How to hand CV and cover letter in?

I personally prefer plastic sleeves so you can clearly see that it's a resume, envelopes could get confused with junk mail, but it's up to you. Be confident, professional and don't go in with a group of giggling friends behind you. Good luck!

The interview is only at Olympic Park. They would place you in the stores you've listed as preferences.

bachelor of communications media arts a production 2010

The campus at Penrith also has the studios for the Sydney community tv station TVS. I understand that you can gain work experience at the studios through subjects like "Learning Through Community Service" and have it credited toward your degree. That's all I know about the comm arts, sorry...

    Piercings at work

Smaller stores would probably be more relaxed about it, and if you don't work with food it'd be much easier. I'm in clothing retail and all of my coworkers have a lot of piercings, it doesn't even raise an eyebrow with management.

    First job 8d

I don't know if City Beach would hire people without retail experience - I work for a competitor of theirs and we don't. I've had friends work at Greater Union and they love it (one has worked his way up to management), and I've read on posts here that Maccas pays more than KFC, if you don't...

Is it too late to look for a job?

+1. I work in surf retail and it is coming up to peak season for us, so City Beach and other surf shops will be on the lookout for people. I got my job in late November last year, so it's never too late! Major retailers usually have completed their recruitment process by now for Christmas, but...

what is so bad about UWS?

I agree. People seem to forget that all universities have strong departments and weak departments. Personally, I've enjoyed my degree at UWS so far. When comparing course topics to friends studying Arts(Psych) at UNSW and Mac, we've all covered similar material. Psych degrees at UWS would not be...

    The Woolworths Thread

Anyone had issues with shoplifting? What do you do if you see it happen? I've had a bit of shoplifting at my current job, because I'm usually the only one in the store I have to watch everyone like a hawk...I guess it would be easier at Woolies with more staff? The new Glenorie store is...

Better to work in bigger or smaller store?

The pay would really depend on the type of franchisee of the small store you're describing. Most chains have a set pay rate regardless of where you work, but if you're working for a designer with a higher price point, you should expect to be paid more given that you'd need to sell your product...

Better to work in bigger or smaller store?

I would go for the smaller store. I work in clothing retail, and the discounts on clothing that I love comes in handy (though I do have to limit yourself in what I buy so I don't waste all my pay!). And it's permament as opposed to Christmas only... Plus if you know the product well, you'll...

    psychology or nursing

I would say do what you wish to do, not what others wish. It's your career. Yes, a lot of people are studying psychology currently, but there are so many sub fields you can take your degree into, and getting honours is a must if you wish to set yourself out from the crowd/go on to practice...

    The Woolworths Thread

Hey, have any checkout people had to ask for ID for customers buying pure vanilla essence? My mother was ID checked for buying it a while ago in Woolies because it has alcohol in it and there were cases of underaged people buying it and attempting to get drunk of it. Is that a normal policy? The...

any one know Minimum wages for..?

It's not just for full time. One of the clauses underneath the full time pay structure explains figuring out pay for part-time, casual, and junior workers. The award came into effect in October 2008, so it looks like the pay is set to change from the 6 month wage to the 12 month wage soon. So a...

I don't, but I just found this thanks to google: http://www.sda.org.au/images/awards/award42.pdf Best thing is to ask management upfront, you have a right to ask them.
