Rudd's New Leadership v Abbott's Ostrich politics.
Tony Abbott policy is to do nothing. Put your head in the sand and ignore the key challenges the nation confronts that is what Tony Abbot stands for. "Ignore it and it will go away" says Tony Abbott. Tony Abbott has no coherent economic narrative to tell the nation Tony Abbott just doesn't have the ticker to be Prime Minister of Australia.

Rudd Mark 2 is going perfectly to plan. The longer the election year wears on the more unpopular Tony Abbott gets. Mr Abbott has become the most unpopular Leader of the Opposition in Australian political history. Mark Textor, Liberal opinion pollster is now conceding defeat and is predicting a landslide election defeat for Mr Abbott. The Coalition is headed for a catastrophic defeat under Mr Abbott. The Australian people have woken up to the fact that Abbott is not up to job of Prime Minister and is viewed as a man who is fatally flawed. Abbott is a major risk to the Australian economy and way of life. Mr Abbott thinks that the Australian people are a bunch of mugs. Mr Abbott holds the Australian people with utter contempt and assumes the Australian people are intellectually disabled as is manifested by his slogans and lack of policies. Mr Abbott is a man devoid of values and policy innovation and is unfit to be Prime Minister of Australia. We will stare you down Mr Abbott and get the job done. Vote Labor if you believe in a stronger, prosperous, safe and secure Australia.

Funny how sathius steals liberal slogans then rebrands them as labor. When can he get banned?

PM decides: Election set for Sept 7

Kevin Rudd plans to visit the Governor-General on Sunday or Monday to seek approval for an election on September 7.

Sources have told Fairfax Media that Mr Rudd has now settled on the date and will fire the starter’s gun on what promises to be one of the most intense political contests in memory.

Bring it on, about time he called the election. Perfectly timed for him to take credit for the interest rates falling (meant to drop again tuesday). Expect to see ads from Labor everywhere from TV to plastic posters out the front of every second house... gonna be a painful few weeks.

I don't want liberal to win, well, because they're right-wing and tony abbot.
Labor ain't much better, they are under the guise of centre-left, but their actions say otherwise (kicking out genuine refugees. marriage equality still isnt happening. k)

Im personally voting for the Socialist Alliance but my no.2 vote will have to go to Labor.

What's wrong with Abbott? Socialist Alliance is only committed to wealth redistribution and nationalising every industry out there. Scary stuff.

P.S I know who you are.

Rudd has just left Brisbane for a previously unannounced visit to Canberra. Sources also saying the Local Govt referendum has been dropped.

How is less regulation redistribution to a specific group? A freer market means LESS people are privileged or subsidized, not vise versa.

Theoretically, if he visits the GG today it doesn't automatically mean the election will be on the 7th does it? He could still visit the GG and ask for the 21st yes/no?

Rudd is now at Government House meeting the Governor-General.

Yes, he could decide to have a longer campaign period. 7th is just the first possible date.
