What were your marks for English and Extension English if you dont mind me asking?
I got 84 in English, 43/50 in Extension 1 English, and 43/50 in Extension 2 English, and I only got 76.35 for my UAI. Its not enough to get me into an of the courses Ive applied for :( Im really disappointed with it.
i got 37/50 for extension and 81 for advanced.

my "lower subjects" like gen maths, senior science, and pd/h/pe i got 93, 89, 88

so i think doing well in them helped my UAI alot

i think scaling is fucked and doesnt exist. this year i got:
2 u adv english = 78
physics = 85
economics = 86
2 u maths 89
earth/enviro = 89

i was expecting into the 90s as most of those subjects are scaled, but i ended up with...
UAI=88.35
so i missed my preferences... absolute bullshit.
and i know people who have similar marks to me but with worse subjects (business,pd,gen maths,stnd eng, legal etc) and they got well into the 90s.. i dont get it.

^ it depends what uai you want. if you want high 90s you'll need the scaling subjects

what about a combination of both hard & easy subjects to get into 90s(90-100)

for example if u wanna get high 90s can you do good subjects like physics & 2U maths and the rest easy subjects?

ive been told i did "easy subjects" and that shits me, coz none of them were easy. i had to work my arse off in them

i did gen maths, drama and ancient history which were considered easy subjects. I ended up getting 94 in gen maths, 86 in drama (disappointing) and 93 in ancient. and got a uai of 96.75

so u can get a good mark regardless of what subjects u do...u just gotta work hard :)

i did general maths and pdhpe and no extension things or anything and i got 98.10
its better to get 95 in general maths than 90 in mathematics and its way harder to get 90 in mathemetics than 95 in general maths

but as you say. no subjects are 'easy', some are just more challenging than others. im sick of ppl saying pdhpe is easy. its sports science based, which is not easy - its challenging. as far as im concerned it should be considerred a science - they accept it at UWS as a science.

English Advanced - 80, 7/20
General Maths - 93, 2/36
Business Studies - 91 1/18
Biology - 92 1/20
Legal Studies - 81, 2/15
UAI - 90.90
none of my subjects are particularly high scaling, bio only makes it to a positive and legal is all right, and i still got what i wanted. my uai was the 3rd highest at my school, and the person who came first did "easy" subjects aswell. shows that if u do well in ur subjects then u will get what u want.

I did:

Standard English: 84
Econ: 86
Physics: 92
Chem: 91
Maths Ext.1: 98
Maths Ext.2: 95

UAI: 99.25

So my advice would be simply to do subjects you really enjoy and are willing to work hard at...I could've done advanced English and get in the 70s but I hate english and wouldn't work at it anyway so what's the point?
