I wasn't sure where to post this but anyways...something I realised about 5 mins ago.
White man was once king of all. Allowed to steal, rape, murder and still walk away a free man but how different would the situation have been like for a black man? Vastly, that's for sure. Now, ofc, things are different. Racism is no longer acceptable in most communities. But cold-blooded murdering of pigs is perfectly legal whilst there are fines and jail time for anyone who abuses pets such as dogs and cats.
Maybe someday, though the evolution of society, ALL kinds of animal abuse will not be lawfully tolerated.

...imo...
Animal cruelty is wrong. It is physically hurting another being for your gratification.

Harvesting animals for food isn't wrong. Human beings are on top of the food chain, this is how the nature works. You think I'm wrong? Go explain your case to the alligator.

Racism is acceptable on cultural/genetic grounds.

Well animal cruelty is in a sense worse than racism, if the racism isn't acted upon.

You might want to compare speciesism with it instead, because that's not really a useful comparison.
Took the words right out of my mouth.

Watch 'Earthlings.' Its a documentary about animal cruelty. Has a good comparison about racism and speciesism at the start @ OP.

I watched that documentary a while ago. Couldn't make myself watch past the second part, it was that hard, and I'm a staunch anti-vegan/vegetarian meat eater.

Graney, bro, for fuck's sake, if you're going to ban me for flaming people in NCAP (or whoever does it) can you start getting rid of the horseshit messages in these threads? It's a bit much to see legitimate threads with messages consisting of:

OP is a retard
ur dumb
Praise God!

etc, and nothing more.

fuk. FUK!

---

OP: Disagree. It's not the same. I'd say that it's equally as heinous because I think it's fairly obvious that being cruel to animals such as the dog, or cat or whatever, causes distress that's probably equal or greater than the distress felt by a negro man when he has to sit in the back of a bus.

I think that anyone who rejects greater penalties for animal cruelty is a fucking nong, tbh, and they'll turn nout like backward country bogan hicks like tully and boris if they keep it up lol!

Lol, nah it was the most full on thing I've ever seen. Really opens your eyes though.

Eating animals is the same as cannibalism tbh

lolwut?

So once we cut out eggs from caged hens and all inhumane methods, what are we left to eat with?

I am not eating tofu.

I myself have often wondered how to justify the way we treat animals. Dont get me wrong, i eat meat and i love it, i wouldnt describe myself as an animal lover and i dont cry myself to sleep about animals being treated cruely.

The thing is though, they are treated badly, theres no real moral reason why we should lord it over animals and torture and kill them and raise them to be eaten except i guess the moral reason of survival. " a mans gotta eat", but even then, we could use far kinder farming practises and still get the food we need.

Basically my condundrum is this, i want to keep the status quo because i like meat, but animals are not fundamentally that different from humans that i can easily justify keeping them as slaves, torturing them, killing them and eating their bodies.

A lot of animals have emotions, they have feelings, they can get psychological disorders, they think, they feel pain, they raise their young, they breathe they live just like you and me. I am not a softy and i will jump at any quality justification for keeping the status quo, but right now i have no moral justification for the way we as humans act towards other species.

Racism is bad.
Animal cruelty is bad.
Farming animals for food is not bad. Somebody has been spending too much time on the PETA website.

OMG TEH MULESING IS BAD DA POOR SHEEPS :(

I consider cruelty to animals to be a far worse crime than bagging about Aboriginals, tbh.

I have zero issues with eating meat, I just choose not to cause I don't agree with much of the industry.

Not saying all do it, but some do and you can never tell which ones. We have the intelligence and technology to do it much more humanely than we already do. We're just a cheap and lazy race.

e.g. of laziness/cheapness from earthlings: instead of individually euthanising the dogs at the pound they shove 20+ into a small gas chamber and gas them to death. DO YOU KNOW WHAT BEINGS LOOK LIKE AFTER THEY'VE BEEN GASSED? It aint pretty and it's painful.

Its a personal choice (to not eat meat).

In response to your conundrum, try purchasing free range eggs/poultry for starters.

What's the point of pampering something that wallows in its own filth who in the end provide us with that delicious bacon? There is no bloody point in giving farm animal rights. They're food for fuck's sake.

Human = having the human genome, bipedal, 2 arms, 2 legs, a large brain, has the basic shape of you.
Anything less than human deserves no rights.
'wallowing in its own filth' do you mean how the farmers shove them into pens surrounded by their own feces or do you mean the rolling around in mud part? coz pigs do that to cool off, they don't have sweat glands. Scientists say pigs are as intelligent as some 3 year olds, so do you go around munching on todlers??

vegetables lack a central nervous system, therefore, i doubt they would feel any pain.

dickiie: way to prove your naivety, eh? Animals still feel pain, they show a psychological awareness of their environment and hold relationships with others. Just cause we're more intellectually evolved does not mean we should therefore have every right to cause harm to other beings, you fucking speciesist. If anything, it means we should be much more aware and conscious of our actions and our sense of compassion. Do you have any pets? If so, how would you feel if the vet COULD painlessly euthanise it but instead painfully electrocuted it and scared it into submission then slit it's throat or shot it straight between the eyes? That's how a lot of abboitoires work, m'dear. Watch the link I posted then I'll listen to you. When you're informed.
