Was doorknocking in the electorate yesterday. Found a strong anti-government sentiment.
So those North Shore residents don't like Labor eh?

Ryde isn't really North Shore. It is a safe Labor seat on a 10% margin. Labor hold the federal seat also.

One could argue that suburbs with residents with higher education are more inclined to vote Liberal.

I think more money would be a better indication....

depends on what education you are talking of.

For instance I think it would be very hard to find many climate change scientists voting Liberal.

What are your thoughts on the Ryde By-Election?

Who will take the trophey? Liberal or Labor?

I'll be joining the Young Liberals of Lane Cove on Saturday 18 October when the people of Ryde go to the polls.

What other suburbs is there a by-election? I'm slow, I only know there will be for Ryde and Cabramatta, I think Barry O'Farrell should find a Asian candidate to get Cabramatta back to the Liberals (not stereotyping).

By-elections in Cabramatta, Ryde, Port Macquaire and Lakemba

Liberal candidate for Cabramatta is Dai Le, of Vietnamese background.

Correct me if I'm wrong but North Sydney has always been a non-Labor electorate and also the electorate with the the greatest population of people with university degrees.

On a complete judgement/generalisation I would have to make claim that Bradfield and Wentworth are equally areas with higher rates of university entrances.

Was she that chick from Hi5? She just resembles her, lol. Good choice though, a woman and a Asian. All Asians will vote for her.

..Uh and down the bottom of the article a Fairfield mayor is running for Cabramatta's seat? wouldn't he have 2 jobs if he does win? someone is hungry for more power lol.

University degrees in what? business? economics?

they might have the highest uni degree qualified people but I would rather put my trust in my mates with a trade than someone with a degree in business etc any day of the week...

Re: Australian Politics Chatter Thread

Concentration of university graduates in Liberal safe seats means very little. Consider wealth. Consider actual percentages of grads compared to other Labor seats. Rah rah rah, I think you'll find that university graduates are pretty evenly dispersed amongst seats. The only thing that matters there are the absolute figures of who grads vote for, yargh!

It is North of the shore, however.

Bah. They all sound the same to me. How do the Vietnamese name their kids? They throw a tin can down the street! Ping pong doc thang ting...nguyen. me so funny

Anyway, yeah she's just like McKew except she's Vietnamese, not as succesful, no-one's heard of her, and she won't be defeating the incumbent (and shit) Prime Minister.

lol...

Lindsay Tanner for treasurer! He has such a comforting, sensible, father-figure type appeal. And he seems to know what he's talking about (from the perspective of a non-economics person).

mmmm Lindsay Tanner would seem like a good choice

plus he is a general left winger! something that has been missing from this current ALP line up (sigh).

Plus it would remove Wayne Swan (little bit of an embarrassment that one)

Wayne Swan is still an embarrasment? From the reports I've been hearing he has improved markedly and is hardly at fault nowadays.

Yeah he has definitely improved - especially in parliament.
