Kimmorley should be shot. He was terrible. Give Matty Orford a chance!
With all due respect to Matt Orford, as he is a quality halfback, if the NSW forwards get as dominated as they did in SOO I, Orford would be just as bad.
When was the last time Orford pulled a game out of his ass for Melbourne when they were getting dominated?
I've been saying this for a couple of years now, and the SMH seemingly finally picked up on today.
However, when Orford plays behind a pack going forward, he is possibly (and probably) the most damaging halfback in the competition.
The only way I'd be selecting Orford in SOO II is if the front row of Bailey, Ryles and Buderus is supported on the bench by Clinton and perhaps another specialist front rower (but I can't for the life of me find any viable options in the NRL at the moment). Either way, it would mean making a couple of changes to the forward pack to accomodate Orford. And still then, the NSW pack would have to get on top from the outset, which is almost impossible to do.
It has been widely accepted that Qld come out more fired up for SOO games, and the first 15 or 20 minutes they generally tend to dominate in defence and occasionally in attack.
Oh well, I shall wait to see what happens.
