Laptops are handy if you have to travel fucking ages to uni and spend heaps of time on away from home on campus/transport as you can do your work on the go. But if you are living on campus i wouldn't bother.

what tommy said.

doesnt make any difference if you're doing arts or science, exercise book and pens would be essential.

though a netbook might be handy if you can fork out $600, free high speed internet at unsw, but handwritten notes are probaby better than typed notes.
Already have a netbook and normal laptop, so no worries there.

So writing seems to be the go? Yeah couldn't quite imagine typing anything to do with maths.

Also, if you have a mobile with internet, you won't need to use a laptop as much. However, they are quite useful for getting Powerpoint presentations done.
