Agreed. $20000 sounds very far-fetched. Average income is about $30000-40000 per capita meaning that you will need $30000/40000 x (the number of people in your family) to live comfortably.

It's true. My brother is a mechatronic person and he's only making an average of about $60/day, $70 on a good day.

Who are you going to believe? Someone who personally knows a mechatron, or someone who doesn't?
Where does your brother work and how many years has he been doing this for? It seems a little low at $70 a day.... :jaw:

In my family there are 6 people. According to you, we would need 30,000 X 6 to live 'comfortably'. That's $180,000!! I strongly doubt my dad makes half of that and we're living pretty well.

.
. . Your argument is floored.

He works for my uncle and he's been working for about 6 years. My uncle says he is paying him award rate, so my brother isn't complaining.

Fair enough then. It just seems a little lower than what is predicted on many of the sites i've looked on. I will take your word for it since you actually know him.

I know. But that's what GDP is like though. Average Australian makes $30000 a year.

Sorry man, but you've got to admit, it was good for a laugh. Come on man, how can you believe that you would only earn $70/day, which equates to about $8.70/hour, for a job you have spent 5 years studying for?

In the average household there are 2 adults and 3 children, equating to $6,000 needed per capita. Correct?

Yea, ok.... fair enough. That was pretty stupid of me to slightly believe you... I didn't want to start an arguement on the forums with someone I didn't know either. :) Try to be nice as I can to strangers (pedos lurk here)....

No GDP per capita is GDP divided by Australian population meaning that the money that average Australian makes is $30000. (including just-born babies, kids, elderly, disabled and everyone!)

I stand corrected. Thanks for that Namu.

With that said, a family could still be 'comfortable" living off $40,000 - $50,000/year, not $180,000.

Yes, of course... Though it will always depend on your spending habits. Bills. Mortgage (if you have one), support from faimly, where you live etc.

comfortable off 40-50k..? it really depends on your financial situation..

i mean..if you have a mortgage i dont think 40-50k would do much

if you own your own home, then 40-50k i suppose could keep your comfortable but i dnt think you would be at liberty to do much..

i go skiing every year and that forks out about 2k..and i cant live without
skiing..i dont think id be able to live off 40-50k..

also, you have to remember that there may be more than one member of your family contributing to your income..

lmao are u kidding me? 60 dollars a day, my friend who earns 12 dollars an hour at Kfc can make more then your brother in 6hours , so yeah 70 dollars a day is extremely unrealistic.
