ecstasy will never be legalized. and shouldn't be.
Why? because you don't like it personally? Do you see how that attitude could be detrimental to a push for cannabis legalisation?

Subjective perceptions of value shouldn't be used to decide a drugs legal status.

Thanks, Nan. Would you also like to ban my internet because you believe porn is harmful to me?

Probably true dude, but the cold hard reality is that even if a bill were passed to legalise ecstacy, there would be uproar from the public.

The general public, where it's fair or not, is not ready to shake-off the fact that drugs kill people. Give it, maybe a few generations, and they might.

That's fair enough, but drugs aint war or taxes.

Instead of wasting time and money policing club/festival goers by having dogs and strip searchers to stop some kids taking a pinger, you let that slide by making personal possession legal, then you instead focus on stopping organised crime and importation of drugs and precursors.

Yeah, I'm well aware it'll never happen, I'm resigned to the fact there is no hope for drug law reform. The future generation is worse if anything. Just look at this thread. BOS is hyper liberal and educated and still there is spirited support for the maintenance of prohibition.

It doesn't mean i'll give up arguing for truth and rationality in government.

A lot of things kill people, relative harms must be assessed in light of the best scientific evidence.

The latter already occurs.

Dare I say, the Anna Wood case (and similarly more recent cases) have galvanised public opinion on whether drugs should be legalised. It's all good and well for you guys to kick and scream and say they should be legalised, but what i'm saying is that it don't matter.

For every person for legalisation, i'm guessing there's 10 people against it. Time for a poll possibly?

I couldn't agree more. But unfortunately, as shroe pointed out above, people are stupid.

So what are you trying to say, we should give up caring because practical change is difficult to affect?

I'm very passionate about this issue and enjoy argueing the point, so meh. I'm under no delusion I'm going to change the world.

Yeah dude, ecstasy causes water retention in the body and the brain.

Would she have died drinking the same amount of water she had, if she hadn't taken the pill?

Hay man I love how you didn't read that article at all

Sweet call bro.

HEY MAN ARE YOU FOR REAL *PROOF THAT HE IS, MS JACKSON, INDEED FOR REAL*
What exactly did I miss in the article?

The article is irrelevant. I was more focusing on the person involved.

Do you think I am for or against legalisation?

.. what? i think the push for marijuana decriminlization is on a slightly larger scale than one for ecstasy. marijuana just plainly shouldn't be illegal in the first place. the circumstances in which it became illegal were retarded.. infact, the justifications used to make it illegal, were criminal in themselves. plus there's the hemp argument and all it's benefits, etc etc.

ecstasy's just a party drug. i'm not totally against the drug itself, i've used it plenty of times, but it's honestly a waste of time even thinking about the legalisation of it. it's just some chemical that makes you retardedly, overwhelmingly, unjustifiably happy for a short amount of time. which achieves nothing, for anybody, or any group of people, ie society. if it had not been made illegal in the first place, i wouldn't give two shits. but the argument for legalisation of cannabis is just totally on another scale...

i don't mean in general. i just meant that in reference to graney's post that my (and others') 'attitude', that ecstasy will never be legalised, would be 'detrimental' to cannabis legalisation. there's a much bigger and more devoted push worldwide for weed than pingaz.
