Hi guys

for my information technology support Trial examination which was the CSSA

some parts of the test were completely not taught at all

for this reason once i get it back i'm going to be querying the teachers

like always they say they have taught it

some classes may have learnt it but my class had not

if the VET Co-ordinator does not take any action in providing marks back or refuses to change

who should i consult next?

the year-co-ordinator and the principal

and then if they don't take any action

should my last result be BOS?

i think the response you will get from anyone is that you are responsible for your own learning
if your teacher has taught 50% of the course then you cant say he hasnt done his job and it is your own fault that you did not do anything before the trials

the syllubus is only for anyone, so basically you can teach yourself...
that's what most people do for most subjects, you cant really expect the teachers to spoon feed you information....

sorry if this was not the response you were lookin for but it's the ultimate truth

I don't see what contacting the BOS would achieve...I really doubt they'd do anything about it.

Nope contacting the BOS will do nothing.

Syllabuses are made public for that very reason. If you have not covered it in class its up to you.

And the BOS isn't the authority over teaching anyway.

errrr thats actually a load of bullshit...

yes syllabuses are there

but if he has not mentioned at ALL

about those specific topics

theres no way u go learn urself

its just like u studying for maths

and if u havent done a topic

dont tell me ur gonna go and study that topic

they're suppose to give u replacement questions

so i finkt he above responses are a little wrong!

hmm...for ur situation I think it would be best to contact the school, the head teacher or subjects teacher. Bc trials were bought externally and had nothing to do with BOS...and if they dont do anything, i think you can send in an appeal to the district superintendent (not sure if thats the right title) to change/appeal ur trial mark. But ultimately, if your teacher didnt teach u stuff in time of the hsc....u gotta do it urself..

like i said...

if they didnt teach u in time

replacement questions are the reason for things

why does maths or other subjects have that

becoz ur not expected to finish the course yet

ur suppose to finish up to where ever ur entire grade has learnt up to

well, for most all of my subjects the teachers changed some questions...so yeah, you can appeal to your head teacher or whoever and if they dont do anything you can appeal to BOS..but when the HSC comes along and ur no close to finishing, study yourself...students can do that themselves...hope it helps:)

oh definately

im happy to do studys for myself

but for the trials

how would of i knew how stupid the teachers were to assume that we know it all

although IT is a very easy subject

but sum aspects that are non-IT related are stupid

Would you please listen and stop waiting for the response you want!!!

It is the students' responsibility as much as the teachers' to make sure the syllabus is covered. You monitor the syllabus as you do the work and alert your teacher if they have missed something.

The board of studies IS NOT the authority over teaching, it simply sets courses to be followed.
You will not get misadventure/special consideration for not having covered something in class, nor will 'replacement questions' be issued.

You are in Year 12. Take some responsiblity for your own learning!!

Why do you ask our advice if you only want to hear certain responses?
Maybe it is "unfair" that other classes got taught things that you didn't that ended up in the exam...in fact, it definately is unfair. And your teachers do have some form of duty of care over you to make sure you are learning the right stuff. But in this case, I doubt the BOS will really care, and will argue that it is the students responsibility to ensure they know what will assessed in each exam. Contact them if you want, but I think you are wasting your time...can you imagine if everyone that something like this happened to appealed to the BOS? It has probably happened to a whole lot of people during year 12. It happened to me more than once.
I think it is more worthwhile to try to work it out inside your school...and also, to chalk this up to experience and make sure you check your syllabus before the HSC-it is the most useful tool you have!

errr rite....

the course has no real syllabus excuse me to say not like the other subjects

its sectioned out in modules

and our teacher doesnt tell us where we are suppose to stop for the trials

and the trials are formulated in a way that it assumes the whole course is completed

rite now we have not finished two modules yet

so ur telling me that

ohhh u must finish these two modules on ur own

becoz ur scools slow, and u have to learn it urself in a such a short time

ok fair enough if they had told us, but no...

they have not

and please listen , thats why replacement questions are designed

if they assume everyone will self learn two topics on their own

lets just screw scool and learn every subject on our own with no aid, and we come to scool as an examination centre instead

It's IT.
C'mon Information Technology Support.
The idea of it is to be intuitive. If you haven't bothered to be intuitive enough to research then it's your fault.

Studying for Information Technology isn't that hard.
