I'm not even trying to argue about whether it is "evil." There is no point, you've made it clear that you find nothing more convincing than a questionable interpretation of an ancient text.

How is that open to interpretation?

I'm not lingering on anything. It was a simple question.

Why can't you be honest about your views and admit that adhering to them can cause people significant hardship and suffering?

First of all it wasn't originally written in English. It was written thousands of years ago and has been translated and re-translated many times.

It could apply only to sex between men and men, meaning lesbianism is permissible. It may only mean anal sex as opposed to other sexual acts between men.

Or it may just be total nonsense...

Well, if we interpret it literally, it's impossible for a man to lie with another man, as he would with a woman, since a males don't possess a vagina. LOOPHOLE

In the same part of the bible that you think says homosexuality is an abomination, It also states children who backchat their parents should be killed.

I doubt you can honestly say you've never done anything offensive to your parents, so according to the text you religiously (pun intended) follow you should go off yourself.

Not a bit of it. I dont seek to control individuals in a way that prevents all sin. This is obviously impossible and, at the end of the day, between them and their maker only. However I do think that God wants us to create a society at least publically open to life. What people do with themselves on their private property is between them and God, but when other individuals become involved and are put at risk of mortal sin, then we as brothers, neighbours, friends etc have a duty to at least try to step in for their protection. We will all be judged on how genuinely we stood for Truth in our life.

These are not my personal rules in the sense that I did not decide what I right or not (in regards to homosexuality). This is what God has decreed to be immoral and sexually perverted.

When man is created in God's image and dignity, told to go forth and multiply, not kill, fornicate or be homosexual...

Ok, firstly I'm going to say that humans did write the Bible, it may be the word of God, but He did not sit down with a pen in hand and write it out himself. So I'm going to say there may have been some errors in transcription, or even the author placing his own views and passing them off as Gods.

In anycase, the following is from a MSN conversation I had with a few friends, its basically my reasoning with homosexuality. I'm just stating the source, because I'm sure there will be spelling errors, and rhetorical questions etc. etc. Just a forewarning. Oh, and the 2nd last paragraph/ all in bold was added during the copy/pasting onto this thread.

ok religions are against homosexuality right? like the majority, because they say its a crime against god, as said in the bible *insert opening paragraph argument* and then people supporting homosexuals say thats how god made the gays, and then the religions say, no, its a choice, they use free will that God gave to be gay. *and this is why its a sin, correct?*.

But look- why would someone cosnciously choose to be ostrasized by a majority of society? is sexuality really a choice? like did you choose to be heterosexual? did you ever make a conscious effort to be straight? *as I said, far too many rhetorical questions*I know I didnt, its just how I am, how I've always been, and I'm guessing its the same for the gays.

But, in all truth, we can never truly know if its a choice or not, however doesnt our justice system operate on the premise 'innocent until proven guilty'? Isn't that the basis of all justice, to not just punish someone because somebody else says 'this is what I think, so its true'.

By that logic, until we can prove otherwise, we must believe that gays do not choose to be homosexual, and if they do not choose to be gay, its how they are naturally, made by god.

And if god made them that way then it is no crime or offence to him, therefor not a sin.

And since being gay does not really effect the general population, it can only be a sin against God, but since God created the gays the way they are- it must be his intention and not a sin.

And thats how it went. I have almost no doubt I am now going the be ripped on hugely, but it needed to be said. :)

Oh yea, does anybody kinda feel this is just guys arguing over this? Where are all the girls? :haha:
Its because most girls dont give two shits about homosexuals, only homophobic religious folk who STILL don't understand that their beliefs have no impact on others beliefs, are scared shitless of them.

This is a tiresome and constant misunderstanding. No man is perfect. We are all born with the stain of original sin. To make you mistake this stain as 'natural' and therefore 'God ordained' is the precise mission of satan. Each one of us has a pet evil or demon that he must battle with his whole life, never achieving total victory in this world, but always retaining hope in its defeat and faith in the reason for resisting it. Christ dramatically showed the world through his perfect life that we must all bind ourselves to our cross - embrace the suffering that all men must face and do not be afraid, do not waver, do not compromise, never give in and never lose sight of final victory. Death is not final and earthly power is fleeting.

Deuteronomy 22:11: Do not wear clothes of wool and linen woven together.
Leviticus 19:19: 'You are to keep My statutes. You shall not breed together two kinds of your cattle; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor wear a garment upon you of two kinds of material mixed together.

I'm sorry, but I thought original sin wasn't a specific character flaw, or evil, but rather a capacity and tendency for flaws/ evils. It isn't a sin initself, but it creates the opportunities to sin.

Even if my belief of the original sin is wrong, my point still stands- prove homosexuality is of demonic origin.
