I dunno. I didn't really memorise my responses but do whatever you can to do well.

Yeah… you pretty much need 90 to get 90.

Section 1 is easy to get 15/15 in if you aren't shit.
Section 2 is good if you're creative.
Section 3 is a bit more difficult because you have to write at an advanced level. But getting 10-12/15 shouldn't be a struggle for the top standard students.

You could get 100% on this paper if you did well enough.
Yeah, section 3 paper 1 is the only thing I'm not confident for - will just take on the feedback I get from trials to improve my belonging essay I guess.

Why are you concerned over the essay? Are you worried over the content or the way you will write it in the exam? Knowing what the issue is can help us give advice on how to better prepare because, tbh, the essay section in belonging is quite easy as the questions can't get too hard- they also tend to be really generic.

It's more the fact that we will be getting marked against advanced rather than just standard. And I didn't link to the question too well in the first two paragraphs of my response.

honestly I think I could've gotten 12-14/15 in the essay if I didn't do crucible and my teacher was better. So you shouldn't be that worried. :p

It was the worst of my essays by far.

I think they're more worried about writing it in the style a top advanced student would.

Don't mean to brag but I can write 1.5k words in 40mins. :)

Proof: I've written 1240 words in 33mins 30 seconds. I have an audio of me doing it. You can hear the pen scratching. (I record my essays on my iphone at writing speed. It makes it easier for me to memorise)

so w8 lets do some maths 1240/(33*60+30)= 0.61691542288 words a second avg

therefore I can write 0.61691542288*(40*60)= 1480.59701491 words give or take a few in 40mins.

Honestly its not that hard, good pen, hardwork in memorising and constant time watch.

Yes definitely a good pen! A smooth pen for me. Generally i am able to hit 1000words and peak at 1200.
And does anyone else here angle their paper? Cause i do and it helps me write faster :)

Tape batteries to your pen and practice day and night if you have to. A 1100+ word response is essential to give you a good shot at securing full marks.

My memorised essays were ~950, moulding it well involves adding an extra 100~ words on the day.

A clean and nicely structured 850 word essay is probably the bare minimum.

I'm around 950-1000 words on average which equates to around four pages of those HSC/Trial examination booklets.

Using right hand, writing half cursive and half printing under exam condition, normally just printing, still slow, but I did noticed that using a ball pen will increase the speed. Need to start practicing. :S

I got through 980 in 30 minutes for my trials yesterday in creative writing, and about 1350 in 50 minutes for the essay. The creative writing was totally memorised to the word though. The essay wasn't obviously, but I had memorised a lot from it so I had reference points to go to. I know they say not to memorise but you really can write a lot faster if you do, especially if you use the "memory palace" technique because you hardly notice that you're writing.
