I think they only made remakes of Red/Green and Silver/Gold because there was no way to trade between those games and the newer ones because of IVs/EVs/abilities/special attack/spesh def

+1, the games were so good. Think it's partially due to the nostalgia since that was the generation I spent most time playing and all friends in school had gameboys and silver or gold then.

(Also, when Platinum came out I was scared HG/SS wouldn't come out yet no one else seemed bothered. I think everyone just forgot that LG/FR came out before Emerald. Also, I didn't buy Platinum for that reason, because I needed something to break up the winnow region. And that's why I'm finding it difficult to play black 2 (I got to 20 hours today (I got it the day it came out)))

The only starter I'm really liking out of the three is Fennekin... then again, the other two could grow on me. Tepig used to be the only one I liked from 5th generation... then I had an Oshawott in my White 2 game and he was awesome, and now I'm restarting Black with Snivy on my team.
