it's a big brainwash.. a few people i knew got caught up in it mid way through year 12.. they disowned all their friends and became isolated.. but they didnt care, they happily donated stacks of cash everytime they went there.
Haven't spoken to any of them since, they believe they are better for it.. so good on them, they have a new society.

ah hillsong. damn that place is weird.

so many people get sucked in. i hate everything about it, the message, the music, the people. my brother goes.

i've been there once, it really wasn't for me. i'm all for people having fun and being happy but fuck these people are like vultures.

they asked what i thought of it when i was there. i told them flat out that i didn't like it and that i wasn't a fan. man you should have seen the look on their faces. they were so shocked that somebody couldn't like hillsong church. like it was an impossibility.

i really didn't like the subtle messages they were sending either. one of the pastors was talking about how they should only hang around people where they can talk about god. really what the guy meant was only hang out with other christians because then you can walk around together saying "praise jesus" out loud.

this explains why someone said in an earlier post that the friends who started going isolated themselves. they probably only hang out with christians now.

its such a waste too. soooooooooooo many hot girls go there.

I imagine hillsongers to be much worse, especially from a Marxist perspective, they have so much influence yet so little vision than that of a society with God at its core. I had the experience of watching a gay guy approach fred nile... it was refreshing to see fred nile have such a hate in his eyes, to the point where i regard all hillsongers CDP's Family Firsters and other fake christians as intollerant and brainwashed.

I agree - the Christian Democrats are pathetic. Nile is an embarrassment. I have a cousin who is a CDP member for out southern highlands way, and I find it offensive (as a Christian) what the party actively supports and pushes for in Australian politics, and that I know people who support it. It's setting an awful example to the younger generation, of how incredibly bigoted Christians in politics seemingly are. Above all, a lot of the impression that the CDP gives is so incredibly un-Biblical that the entire institution seems like one irony machine. It is as if Nile encourages hatred within society, and strives for ridiculous intolerance towards difference.

Hillsong is different i admit but it's not really for me as they seem to be really pushing people to donate 10% of their income (they have EFTPOS & credit facilites in the pews) - it seems too commercialised.
