Her name is Sarah Chalke (and is known for playing Becky, from Roseanne). She plays Dr. Elliot Reid in Scrubs.

back to the issue..
Ive been to 2 high school
one govt non-selective (yr7-10) and the other well .. ruse...
Ruse is good only cos ure more focused..
plus they sometimes do extension work on the syllabus
cos most of the stuff is done so quickly

at my old non-selective public school
when we a new head teacher come in
we couldnt do science olympiads .. only cos "its too much time"
at ruse the teachers have it easier..
(most teachers end up retiring there)
classes are on average quieter..
some of the 'smarter' kids help
the slower ones .. like me.. keep up

its just a slightly better environment for learning..

so then if they take the best in yr 7 why dun they end up with all the best in yr 12?

well in 6 years + puberty ppl change and nothin is permanent
hopefulli that clears things up

Students at Ruse benefit not only from the competitive environment but also the teachers.
Most teachers at Ruse probably work really really hard to help their students achieve top marks, whether it be during lunchtimes, before or after school because it's what's expected of them.
I highly doubt the only reason why they achieve top marks in the HSC each year is because they "steal" the brightest students in Year 7.

No but it certainly can help. I must be one of the only people not to have had any significant knowledge of Ruse before I came to the boards, granted I live nowhere near Sydney though.

i never really heard of james ruse till about year 8 or 9... i must have been not with the times or something
i think i was pretty bright in primary school... im just not that motivated anymore though
i guess if u were going to a school with all really smart people the energy would bounce off each other and hopefully motivate u to do well

i would find that very true, although, practically most teachers (with the acception of some) that attend all schools try to help their students to strive for the utimate best.. like my principle.. she was the best.. although.. abit querky sometimes

Really? i'd have thought that the prospect as being classified as unintelligent (even in a society of smart people) would motivate people.

But even in a smart society if they are continually put down (even by themselves) about their "low" intelligence (which isnt really in fact low they just percieve it to be) they will adopt a why bother attitude to work. Depends on the person really.

my experience with ppl at ruse is that "some of" the ones that are average to above-average tend to work their butts off, and the average to below-par ppl tend to shrug it off and tell others they "have a life", etc etc.

yeah poor things....
my sister's friend is [was] in yr7 at ruse, she was in the bottom 10 and she was absolutely devastated.... which is understandable if i went to a school like hers O__o
