Haha. The School Captain nominations at my school were rigged from what all the prefects can see

Oh yeah, my school is going to prep us up for that. They're going to make us wear lady-like straw hats.

LOL. My school captain was like 'NOOOO!' when she was called out for the duty. She looked accusingly around at the prefect body (because we choose who gets to be captian) and said, 'I thought I told you not to vote for me!'. Her face was absolutely hilarious.

I'm going for vice at my school...i have to do a speech next week :S
But, do any current captains think it will cut into my study time too much?

Nah it shouldn't. Vice Captains don't do much (not at my school anyway). It's mainly the School Captain and even then, they don't get a lot of work. Vices are there as backup for the School Captain when they are away. But that's at my school. You should consult the current Captains at your school if you are really worried. But I'm sure the executives will understand that this your HSC year and that takes priority, so they wouldn't let you cut class too much

Getting vice captain could distract you from your studies. I'm happy just getting normal prefect - I don't want excessive responsibilities to affect my studies.

Well yeah - same with ours. But normal prefects mainly lose lunch times and a few nights after school - so the effect wouldn't be as bad as if you were part of the executive.

I was selected Prefect at my school the other day, got through easily because at our school we normally would have elections where Year 10 and Year 11 vote and they would choose out of a pool of more than twelve candidates. There were only eleven of us who had nominated, so we were all selected unanimously. Those going for school captain would have to be interviewed by the principals and current school captains.

The previous year's student body only missed two days of school, which I think it pretty tank. Plus, we don't have any duties such as cleaning, ordering people around or canteen duty. All we have to do is organise school functions and that just means losing a few recesses/lunches which is a fair price.

We have to do heaps of stuff:

- Canteen Duty
- Library Duty
- Uniform Checks
- Usher/Help out at any open nights
- Be present at any parent/teacher interview/gathering (Yrs 7-12).
