When we get our results back, do we find out how we went in each section? Coz i KNOW i stuffed up section one, but i wanna know how i went in 2 and 3, coz they weren't too bad lol.
Text 3, wtf? Like someone else said up above, they couldn't digest texts 2 and 3, me either... I just didn't get it :S

errr so that was kinda difficult

Text 2 and 3 especially weren't very easy to comprehend

However, at the start of text 3 there was a quote "One cannot write with conviction about a country and a continent if one has not travelled and explored its furthest reaches."

If you picked up that quote, it was pretty much your answer to question (f)

Rothwell's empiricist viewpoint contrasted with Wilson's commercialisation of stories.

I pretty much talked about that, wrote about a page

It was well good

omg i wrote that they were similar... there goes 5 marks. for sure. full stop. i suck.

Lol, I don't think I even tried to digest it, so I have no idea how hard texts 2+3 are to understand

i think i went solid in this question. Nothing fantastic.
Um... you freak!!

I didnt have much time to sit there understanding text 3 so i just said the beuty of the desert inspired him to write cause he was an author wasnt he?? or did i just make that up?

To sum it up section 1 = bad :(

Rothwell was attempting to convey his perception of a journey, in this case the nature of journeys to branch out, and he's basically a nutcase who can't just say that in a sentence. oh, and there are many techniques that you can analyse.

I didnt leave enough time for the 5 marker (because i did this section last...) and wrote barely anything for it....arghhh/ hoping to scrape one mark from it. I also wrote a fair bit of crap for some of the smaller mark questions... hoping it doesnt bring my mark down too much because i think i did well in the other sections of the paper

OMG that's exactly what happened to me... i did alright in the last two sections and left the comprehension till last.. even though i had 25- 30 minutes for the section i ended up having like 2 minutes for the 5 marker..I will also be lucky to scrape a mark lol

What did everyone identify as 'the attutude conveyed towards journeys in "the horizon seemed the most persuasive home"'? I can't remember mine clearly but I know I didn't write "that hourneys never end" and Im feeling this was the right answer now. Thoughts?

Hmm well i think this section was moderately hard, i guess will just depend on how its marked!

I too had trouble with text 3, however i made a descion that rather then looking deep into it to find its purpose, i just looked for something i could talk about with sufficent evidence. In this case, i spoke about the positve attitude adopted towards a journey, and how the journey will allow for the growth and fulfilment of the responder. I backed it up with emotive langauge, connative language, tone and the punctuation that dictated the fast pace in which it was read.

As for the final question i used texts 1 and 2. The key here was to discuss that although they had simliarities, there were also distinguishable differences. For this i spoke about how in both texts, the phsyical journey catalyzed the imagiantion, however the end result varied drasticaly. Text one saw the journeys used to acheive a landmark in creating the charectors first published story, whilst in text two it saw the individuals understanding of the natural world grow.

Im hoping there acceptable answers!

I have always been terrible at short answers! I just cant do them, I have no idea why. I find it really hard to have a random text chucked at me and be told to identify techniques on the spot. I think I answered every question in section one horribly and i dont even think I really identified techniques!! Oh well, its gone now, cant change anything...might as well focus all my energy on other exams, not dwelling on this....

Same thing happened to me as well! I even chose to relate Text 1 and Text 3 which I found out was a bad decision as I could only find 1 way to relate them. Oh well, not a lot that can be done now anyway.
