yeah exactly! thats why selecting simpsons wasnt really a top idea. he did ok this match, but it would have been much better if there was a specialist prop backing up bailey and ryles when they go AWOL.
While Watmough,Ryan & Simpson had ok games, I think one of them needs to be sacrificed for a specialist prop. It showed tonight, especially Ben Ross he did awesome.

One last thing, what was Sterlo thinking when he said tomorrows paper would say best origin ever! Not a very good one actually. the best thing about it was the closeness of the score line.

hinmarsh made about 30 tackles in the first 25 minutes, fitzy made about 50 total
fitzgibbon: 59 tackles, 12 hitups 101meters, 2 offloads (he is seriously a freak)
hindmarsh: 44 tackles, 8 hitups 63 meters, 1 offload
kenndy: 16 tackles, 16 hitups 137 meters, 3 offloads

bailey did alot more than i thought:
41 tackles 13 hitups and 118 meters

ryles got 80 meters, thats pretty ordinary for a starting prop who is meant to be one of the best in australia

edit: compare to the qld props:
civoneciva14 hitups 149m
price 23 hitups 195m
ross 14 hitups 138m

no wonder neither dragon props were picked for the ANZAC test

I reckon NSW should complain like little babies that QLD won in extra time like QLD did last year when NSW won in extra time.

IMO his pretty ordinary, like ricky is as a coach, tad overrated

highlight was seeing ryles knock on

I want to see a team win, and I think the majority of fans do aswell. I don't like the fact that QLD won, but having it end in a draw would be a huge anticlimax.

Some idiot queenslander said last year it should only be in the last game, but if QLD wins the first and there is a tie in the second NSW winning the last one would still mean a tied series.

i dont like seeing a team win after a 'penalty shoot-out' like finish

how does a team kicking a field goal after 80 minutes reflect the actual game??? it doesnt

bring back the draw!!!

its alot harder to get a tied score at the end of a league game than a soccer match, especially if a team is clearly superior. and unlike a penalty shoot out, you actually have to build your play up to have a crack at a fieldgoal/penalty/try... theres alot more luck involved in penalty shootouts.

in close games i think the fans would prefer to see a result rather than an empty we're at the same level thing. besides at least one side will have the bragging rights and make the whole rivalry more interesting.

if the team is clearly superior they shouldnt let it go 2 extra time in the 1st place

and stop speaking 4 the 'majority of fans'

im sure the majority would like 2 see their team win, not lose by one point because in the first minute into extra time a field goal was scored

and in regards 2 bragging, i would b like "our team played shit and u still couldnt beat us!"

i think its a shit way 2 end a game, and i would noe

u guys lost from a try, wait and see how u feel after its a field goal

Shocking game from noddy.

Absolutely.

One of the most potent backlines and it was hardly used, rather it ended up being a battering ram.

Bailey has always been a workhorse, Ryles an offloader, but there just wasnt any push at the beginning. We didnt have someone who could step up and just take someone head-on, someone to really rally the forwards.

Kennedy did it a bit towards the end, but that was what someone like Clinton, just a character to pull the rest in.

Ordinary performance from the Blues and almost stole the game, good job queensland.

that was my point, you wont have unfair winners
and stop speaking 4 the 'majority of fans'
fair enough, how about this: there has been alot more outcry over tied results than golden points results, from my perspective, with regards to stuff in the media and among people ive talked to
im sure the majority would like 2 see their team win, not lose by one point because in the first minute into extra time a field goal was scored
if that was the case, the team was simply not good enough to win and don't deserve it. field goal isnt like a roulette as the penalty shootouts are.

it's alot worse when teams lose by penalty shootouts in soccer, but that is exciting in its own way. like you said it makes victory even sweeter and defeat even more bitter.

in league games i really dont care either way, but in origin, being a 3 match playoff series it's definitely better .. imo anyway ... how sht would it be if a grand final is tied and 2 teams share the premiership...

Well golden point should definitely applied in rep gamez, but I'm still kinda against it in league gamez, az a draw to me iz still a result.

I don't know if anyone agrees but I don't think Kimmorley was that bad, yeh he threw a wayward pass at the wrong time but that could've happened to anyone. His kicking game also wasn't as terrible as everyone thinks, luck didn't go his way and 4 or 5 kicks ended up clearing the dead-ball line on the last bounce, if they had held up it might've been different.
It's easy to say he shouldn't have been there, but looking back at the season he's been miles ahead of his competitors and deserved to make the origin squad.
On the other hand his dropouts weren't so great and some of his 5th tackle options were lacking. Although I'm not a big kimmorley fan, I reckon he deserves another go.
All credit to QLD as they played extremely well (as the two QLD NRL clubs have all season) and deserved to win. Lockyer was all class as usual and their defense was good excluding the last 20 mins.

If kimmorley gets picked over orford/johns in game 2 then i'll eat my hat. There's no second chances in origin - if you dont perform you're out.

How could everyone miss the forward pass by King to fitzgibbon. The ball was 5 metres forward and even the commentators didnt comment on it. And the try to Williams - its unacceptable to make such stupid decisions. OPEN YOUR EYES. The fact that it was such a good game will cloud such insipid refereeing.
