How much are you guys studying at the moment ?
Roughly, how many hours ?
Really on top of things, or falling behind ?
How many people have hit the " omg its HSC " mind set ?
:)

I'm doing approx 3-4 hours a day. I'm pretty much on top of things. I dedicate one&half hours to homework, and the rest is basically study/assignments (mostly assignments atm).

Ten Minutes for each class a day. I'm doing alright too, only want a UAI of 80, and so far I'm getting it ez.

Probably not on top of things in the way others expect me to be, but I find that I recall around 90% of the things that are said in class easily.

I do roughly 1- 2 hours a day extra besides homework
it really just depends on my mood
some days i dont bother cause homework is enough

I got my year 11 report back a couple days ago and I thought i did really well for a year i mostly bludged. My dad didnt seem to think so and had a huge go at me. He wants me to study 4 hours a day on top of homework.. yeah right

I agree i really should do more hw and study, which i will get to eventually :p

i do abouttt 2 hours a night. sometimes i do less sometimes more. no more than like 4. thats on weekdays

on weekends id try and get about 5 a day.

but i think the key to not burning out is to keep other things in your routine. so im seeing mates and gf as much as possible. also keeping my part time job, and going to the gym 3 times a week. its hectic but its working

ps yeah i fully have. in year 11 even if i tried to study my brain would be like 'dude its year 11, i am taking no part in this' but now its like 'ok i want you to take care of me in the future, which requires good hsc and then good course and then good job, so i guess ill cut you some slack'

stupid brain

Re: studying patterns HSC o9'ers ... =D

I've mainly just been doing 3-4 hours of homework a night, but I make notes every now and again, depending on how much of the syllabus has been covered to make the study process an effective activity.

I'm doing doing some of my courses compressed, so most of my hsc is 09 but i sat business and drama this year. i actually just finished my drama exam an hour ago. basically its like doing the hsc twice, and my advice for those just starting HSC - if you are planning on doing 4 hours a day for an entire year, your going to burn out. make a realistic effort that you can hold yourself to like 1-2 hours and then a bit extra on weekends to do assignments. because really, most of the learning you do that will help you in the exam will take place in the last month before hsc. may as well save your energy for that. not a heap of work needs to be put in. the hsc is just some big scary illusion that the board of studies create to make kids try hard.

The syllabus is your most important resource. The Board of Studies can only set you examination questions based on the syllabus.

Why no hours for homework?
Because homework is useless (in general, except maths).

From yr 9, I don't really remember taking homework back home and doing it.

I just study on my own. The last thing I need from school is the teacher who bombards the students with homework.

Don't your teachers at least go through the homework in class or check it?

I finished my HSC yesterday, did next to no study for every subject throughout the year. This was the same for just before every exam.
