You must be proud.

I am looking forward to seeing the fruit of your hard work.
Yes I am. I'm looking forward to it too.

Just because I didn't study, doesn't mean I didn't work hard.

Because homework is useless (in general, except maths).

From yr 9, I don't really remember taking homework back home and doing it.

I just study on my own. The last thing I need from school is the teacher who bombards the students with homework.
yeh i found that really good too :) homework is useless and lets face it, if you're not at a good school, class is pretty useless anyways, you're much better off studying from your own textbooks say MQ, Excel etc to state a few

otherwise, wow you guys are a lot more dedicated than i was this time last year...i used to just get scared before the half yearlies and the trials and study hard for like 6 wks beforehand eachone for crazy hours dat u probably wouldn't believe if i told you...but besides the half yearlys, trials and hsc, i wouldn't say i studied even an hour a day...but assesment tasks really were not my thing...gd luck 09ers :)

oh man, i feel so much worse after this

physics - absolute minimal
Eco - none
4unit maths- like half an hour a day lol (ill do more when we get up to hard topics)
adv English - teacher sets us an essay to do every fortnight + finish some questions, so like an hour a week
engineering studies - none

But like, i did this last year and I'm in the top 15 end of year 11 rank for almost every subject =\

something isn't right....

you probably study effectively
like some people study all the time ( ie; me )
but theres ppl who do much better frm no wrk because i guess they just grasp concepts better ?
its kinda depressing
but you should be happy then
you have an advantage =D

haha, it probably doesnt really help that our physics teacher does jack all, and only covers like half the syllabus points, so inclass half the people just ignore her and work straight from the textbook lol

eco + engineering, we dont get any work to do at home, and the concepts seem relatively simple to do...ish

i never really got how you can study effectively, i mean, as long as you stick relatively to the syllabus you should be fine, right?

some people ie my friend, does a hell of alot of work, but almost none of it is related to the syllabus so he spends all his time doing completely useless work =\

Hmm, well what was going through my mind at the start of Yr 11 was :read: (study, study, study, study) but that didn't work, apparently I read 1/8 of the prescribed texts. So I may just say from experience of Yr 11, is don't think study is an "object", just do it and go with the flow, and the marks just comes.

What I mean by seeing Study as an 'object' is by saying to yourself, "i will finish it tommorow, or nexxt hour, i just want to listen to this song first....". And later the assessment is the next day. A solution I think is not to crave for things that distract the mind, but focus with willpower on things that matter, and doing bit-by-bit per day, not finishing it all at once.
Smart eh? :hammer:

Oh as in,
uhmm
well the only way i can study is by physically writing my notes
if i read over them
i dont learn
unless its like before exams and i know everything & im just re- cramming ?
but clearly that isnt the right study method for me
because im still not doing as well as i should
n i work right off the syllabus :(

btw;
how come my thread got muddled with all these random threads ?
:(
what happened to ' study patterns for o9'ers =D "
:(

Re: Help me with study choices please.

we've been told that it is 4hours per subject so yes 2hrs per unit will work out to 4 hours a week for a 2U subject
lol, 4 hours for 2U maths and 2 hours for ext1 per week. should be vice versa imo lol. i reckon there should be no standard as to hwo many hours one should study per week. you study depending on your strengths and weaknesses and where u need it etc. if u need 1 hour to study gen maths and 6 hours to study chem..go 4 gold
