So i just did the stupidest test i've ever seen....It was a biology assessment for the topic maintaining a balance, but it had 11 marks worth of questions on the wrong topic, blueprint of life, which is 20% of the marks for the test, was way too long, with 55 marks for only 50 minutes- nobody in the whole grade finished, and the first multiple choice question in the whole test didn't even have a question, just answers. If it was 1 or 2 wrong questions i could understand, but it was 20% of the test!
My question is can anything that can be done? and if so, what could they potentially do? Could the test not be counted? Could they set a new test?

Ranks are important not marks, if everyone found it hard and no one finished, I don't the see the problem. They're perfectly entitled to set a difficult exam.

Of course they are perfectly entitled to set a difficult test, but they aren't entitled to ask questions on a topic we haven't covered yet and was especially specified to NOT be in the exam.

Did the assessment notification state that "Blueprint of Life" would be assessed?

Have a talk with the head teacher for the exam firstly.

So long as everyone was in the same situation (e.g. if multiple classes that none of them had done any work on the topic that wasn't supposed to be tested) then it is still a fair test and there would be no need to change it.

I see what you mean, but if they had given us a modern history test wouldn't it have been "fair" for everyone as well. Don't mean to be one of those whingers, its just annoying, and not really fair for those who didn't work 2 months ahead.
Just wondering, is there any limitations on making a new test? (i.e board of studies regulations)

Discuss it with the head teacher for that exam first of all (preferably send some form of communication this weekend) , and cite the notification of the exam that you were given, and then go from there. If they won't budge, head to your curriculum co-ordinator and discuss it with him.

People work ahead/have tutors. It isn't fair at all to the kids that can't afford tutors/don't have the time to go ahead.

I say complain, complain, complain. Unless you got the marks.

It seems that it was fair as long as everyone was in the same situation. However, for example, student A might spend most of the time allocated doing questions of the wrong topic with which they were stuck, whilst student B only concentrated on questions of the required topic during the exam. Although some may argue that it's a matter of time management and exam strategies, to a certain extent student A was disadvantaged for being distracted by the mistakes made by examiner from what they were supposed to be doing. Therefore, the overall performance of student A was affected.

Serious? Do something about it, if it wasn't in your notification, you shouldn't have been tested on blueprint.

This is exactly what happened to me. If they were to simply discount the questions from the wrong topic (the whole ELEVEN of them), which one teacher was discussing, i'd be absoloutely screwed because i did all of those instead of some others from the correct topic.

^Fight the school. You are meant to get an accurate assessment notification.
I will be for sure, along with about 20 others...but are the teachers likely to set a new test? Most of the teachers will have too much pride to admit that they screwed up so much that the test is unassesable.

how many people are in your bio cohort? if 20 is <50%, try and get at least a majority of complainers.

You should talk to the headteacher because if you weren't told in the assessment notification that you are not being assessed on 'Blueprint of Life' but the exam contained questions on the module, then it is quite unfair regardless that the whole class was in the same boat as you.
