I like the flag we have now. I don't think a green and gold flag would look any good...and I certainly don't want a new flag incorporating any aboriginal bullshit.

and our treatment of aborigines in remote communities

it's just one of those things that doesn't really matter to anyone so we can safely ignore it while there's more important things to work on

No it's not, it's exactly the same.

The Union Flag features in the Australian canton - this means that the United Kingdom asserts itself over the Australian people legally, culturally, and symbolically.

We can't become a republic (essentially a symbolic thing) and not change our arguably most-important symbol.

Well Malcolm Turnbull is a Republican and supports keeping the current flag, so it's not really an uncommon position.

Then again, Turnbull is what you might call "flexible" in his beliefs.

It's ridiculous to change our de facto country into a de jure one without changing the flag. It's all symbolic crap, keeping the current flag would be ridiculous, and send mixed messages to everybody.

Why the fuck would anyone want to represent Australia with ANY REFERENCE WHATSOEVER to COONS?

The rest of the world would probably congratulate us if we had eradicated them when we had the chance... but no... we fucked ourselves in the arse and are now forking over millions of $$ in centrelink payments to pay for their alcohol, drug and petrol sniffing addictions.

The Union Flag is not the flag of another country, its the flag of the mother country.
Do your history son and you will see that 50 years ago the Union flag was on par with the Australian flag.

Secondly, some people say having the Union flag symbolises our history. This is true, but what about the many thousands of colonial immigrants from other nations of the world? And what about the original inhabitants of the land? If our British history is going to be put on our flag, why not put the Aboriginal, German, Chinese, and other flags on ours?

Separate Development is wrong. We shouldnt be identifying people by their ethnicity, but rather by their status as Australian nationals

British values are Australia values, and Australian values are Britsh values. The flag dosnt just show historical revelance but also culural, social and moral relevance.

And no, our troops did not "fight for the flag". Armies have not taken flags into battle for a couple hundred years.
