I want Seth and Marissa to be together only cause I love Seth and think he should be the main character and not the plastic Ryan.
Seth is too socially awkward though. He wouldn't make much of a main character - he'd get kinda annoying. Although he's cute in his own way. Ryan - I don't know about plastic, but when he speaks I can hardly hear him sometimes. Is it just me or do all the characters talk too fast? I've never had trouble understanding characters in American series, but this is definitely a first.

So does Summer's character develop into something decent? 'Cause at the rate she's going, she's just another spoilt little rich bitch to me - just like Julie (Marissa's mum). I have to wonder if she's a true friend to Marissa sometimes e.g. in the first episode she just leaves a drunk Marissa outside her house and leaves (maybe she was kinda drunk too). And then she wanted Luke to be her escort at Katillion. And look at the way she treated Seth in previous episodes - that kiss in the next episode must have some evil ulterior motive. Dodgy. Very dodgy.

Yeah, I have noticed that they talk fast too, although I can still understand what they are saying. Some people just talk fast:).

Yeah, I agree with you. Summer doesn't really act like a good friend. They asked that question on this weeks preview. It said something like, "Is the kiss real, or is it a cruel trick":).

Later on, you realise that Summer is actually a really good friend to Marissa - she's loyal and protects her quite a bit, but yeah she is a bit of a spoilt rich bitch but she's aware of that and makes fun of herself (more later on).

I used to want Marissa to be with Seth, only because Marissa was my favourite female character and Seth's my favourite male character. I don't see what everyone sees in Ryan. Never got onto the whole brooding bad boy thing.

Seth talks quickly sometimes - must be from his time on Gilmore Girls - now THAT'S one show I can't hear what they're saying 100% of the time.

I dont get the brooding bad boy thing, most of the time it just looks like he's trying to supress a fart or something. As for the Gilmore Girls, they talk a lot faster than the OC, and seeing as Adam Brody was on that, it makes sense that he talks at 400 miles per hour, like Ciccolina said. After watching the Gilmore Girls since the beginning, watching the OC is a walk in the park.
I thought about the making Seth the main character thing some more, and I think it'd make me like the show less if he was because part of the appeal (well to me) is Seth being the dorky sidekick. Although I loved him as Lane's muso boyfriend in GG.
Oh, and my opinion on the Seth/Summer kiss- I don't think its her leading him on or a bet, I just think its her waking up to herself... well thats what I hope.

hey, stop bagging out Ryan! he's a nice guy and i think he's absolutely adorable especially when he smiles. i don't actually see him as a bad boy, just someone who can be tough and beat up a guy when he wants to, but who's really sentimental on the inside. he makes a great companion for Seth and is a complete honey to the girls. see the way he treats Marissa? perfect gentlemen. and did you know Benjamin McKenzie used to be a loner in high school? strange, but true...awww i just wanna give him a big hug now.

btw, what is so plastic about him?? i don't get it. and he does not look like he’s trying to suppress a fart, maybe he just feels socially awkward and nervous being in this new town full of rich and beautiful people and it’s completely different from Chino, wherever that is.

i dunno why y’all are saying everyone on this show talks too fast. i think they talk at a reasonable rate, kinda slow sometimes. Some of you are either slow-minded (no offence) or i watch too much Gilmore Girls.

i agree with stephanie on the part about Seth - he is more suited to playing the dorky sidekick. i think Ryan makes an ok lead. at least he's not annoying or up himself. if we see too much of Seth, he can get quite annoying like he did in the last ep. like they say, too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.

I totally agree with that. The TV previews keeps trying to make Ryan sound like a bad boy when he's really not and make the show sound incredibly bitchy and dramatic.

We've only seen 5 episodes on TV but at least 2 of the previews made it sound like someone is going to die and Ryan is responsible in some way. It's a total scam to suck people into believing that The OC is as bitchy as Channel 10's old series like Melrose Place and Beverly Hills 90210. I reckon Channel 10 is trying way too hard.

But that aside, I love The OC and I also love Ryan's character. He's brooding but not a bad boy. I'm hoping that Ryan and Marissa will get together soon. The suspense is killing me.

I loved Adam Brody in Gilmore Girls - that episode when he ran all the way to the hockey game and ran back *sigh*
I like Seth the most, but I don't think I'd like it if it focused on him. He makes a better sidekick - anyway, the sidekick's always the funny, witty one.

He is definitely not what I would call a bad boy either. He just sticks up for himself. It is not like he carries around a gun, looking to get into trouble like the guy on the last episode:). Did you read that he used to be a bit of a loner on IMDB? That is where I read it:rolleyes:.

Yeah, his body language is awkward, which would be how most people would act after moving into a new town. I think Chino is like the Bronx of California:confused:.

It is only Seth that speaks fast. Listen to him in the next episode:).

I agree, Seth definitely wouldn't be suited to that part of Ryan, he just doesn't look the part:).

Imdb = internet movie database. www.imdb.com Tons of info about movies, actors, actresses, etc, but it isn't so like.... gossipy (not the right word) as like Eonline.

I was just saying that to my mum the other day. They don't sound like they have an accent to me either (apart from Marissa, but that is a British accent). I think it is because the Californian's have a similar sounding accent to Australian's. It is American's from other major cities, like Boston, that sound different.
Yeah Marissa's got this like trans-Atlantic accent. It's funny because one of my cousins I think is trying to speak like her, instead of how people normally say a word like "year", she pronounces it like "yeeeeeehr" and instead of "here", it's "heeeeehr". It sounds kinda funny, like she's putting it on, and it jars with her ordinary voice.

He is a high school student at Stiffler's party, toward the start of the movie. He (with a friend) walks up to Stiffler and says something like:

ADAM BRODY: "Hey, thanks for throwing this awesome party man."

STIFFLER: "No problem dude."

ADAM BRODY: "Yeah the cops bust all ours now."

STIFFLER: "I put the word out so that chicks would come, now just because you guys don't have dicks, doesn't mean you can be here."

ADAM BRODY'S FRIEND: "Hey is it true Finch boned your mum?"

You see them getting kicked out of the party by Stiffler, and running away.

STIFFLER: "Hey, my mum's a saint, the jokes on Finch!"

End Scene.:)

my favourite episode of the Gilmore Girls with him in it is when he talks to Laine's mother about taking Laine to the prom, and she quoted something from Shakespeare, but he didn't know what it meant and he thought it was from the Bible, so he spent the whole night reading the Bible and came back the next morning all tired and confused, telling her mother that he read the whole Bible and couldn't find the same quote, then she told him it was Shakespeare and she was impressed with him, so he was allowed to take Laine to the formal. He looks so cute when he's acting all tired.
wow! ditto!
i was about to say that episode too.

geez, i like the oc and all, but what sixteen year old looks like any of them?
