Re: Woolworths FAQ- how to get a job

Usually the first thing they do will ask you if you have a few minutes do do a quick interview over the phone. This is what HR calls a phone screening, it gives a first impression, so its important that you sound enthusiastic and that you are interested.

Just keep applying at all the stores in your locale and you will get there. If you have too much experience you will most likley be employed and asked to be a supervisor or such.

Some of the bigger stores don't have that many 16/17/18 y.o supervisors, but there are a few. I'm 16 and i'm a supervisor but my store is a tiny store. It realli just depends.

omg...just read through this whole thread and to say i have laughed would be an understatement!! on the new shirt we had to order our like 2-3 weeks ago, they're free and you have to order 2. yes they are green and can i say that it's gonna look fkn ritarded with black pants! someone said that black pants and the white shirt was sexy...and i fkn completely agree...but who cares what u look like at some crappy supermarket. well i work in melbourne, at fitzroy.(smith street, for those who know where that is!) it is pretty crappy the store. the customers are fked nd the store isokay given that they did finish refurbishments like 2 weeks ago! the only good thing about it that is so far keeping me from leaving are the staff. there are a half a dozen people who i am close with and enjoy and have a laugh with!! but in jan i will be at the store for two years and i really do wanna leave, might just transfer...but will see how i go. btw, i always give free shit to customers, and so far i havent got in trouble for it. do u think they know, like the managers? is there anyway that they can check if items say have not been scanned?? lol. caus like i am gonna fkn wait 10 mins for a service 40 grocery!!!!

Also another question, does many stores have young supervisors like 16,17,18 y/o's?
The four younger supervisors at my store are aged between 18 and 21. However, our dept 2IC is 19. but we're a much bigger store, and while we don't have many young supervisors, we have "supervision assistants". these people can do anything that a supervisor can do provided that it doesnt require a supervisor number - so they really can't do anything. these people mostly do things like smokeshop escorts, change orders, cold stock collection or replacements. as a supervision assistant, i can tell you, its not fun, but we dont do a hell of a lot.

Do people get appointed as a supervisor after being hired by the company for the first time? I would have thought that they would have to at least be there a month or so, just to make sure they're a good fit for the store or something. maybe im wrong?

Re: Woolworths FAQ- how to get a job

We just hired recentley 2 supervisors straight out, with out working there before. They are the better ones, simply because they dont know any better where as an operator becoming a supervisor is really friendly etc and know what they can get away with.
