I think this chart means the money they are losing from wasted/damaged/out of date/etc stock.

That's the impression i got firsthand anyway.

Like that's the amount that could be avoided if people picked up their act.
correct i still an't belive they have it in the tea room through:(

We've been getting our new badges the last couple of weeks. They look better, more modern. I know its a badge though so how can it look modern.

We're getting a new uniform in July I do believe, how annoying. Our store already has new trolleys with the apple. Was stupid coz we'd gotten all new trolleys less than 2 months beforehand then paid $500 each for a shitload more and got rid of the others. Well gave them to other stores...
Where's the source for the new uniform changes?

Yep been a few months. Produce manager: wont give me shifts and even hired a some new guy that does my shifts now. Front end want me but I don't want them... I hate being cashier. Also, grocery is full. I don't like doing produce anyway.

Cant I just message my manager saying I no longer want to work at Safeway?
no, have to write a letter - otherwise they might not accept it, now if they dont they cant force you to work, but they can fire (sorry - "terminate") you for abandonment of employment, which wont look good if a new job looks into it

The source for the uniforms is just everyone knows in our store.

I'm glad I'm not working today but then again I wish I was for the money.

I see. Now should I give a letter to my store manager or produce manager where I have been working?
Give it to your store manager

I recently quit after 4 months or so of telling them I was to return casual (just wanted that 5% off for a couple more months), :p get it over and done with quickly or you will get some narky HR bitch ring you up and threaten to terminate your employment under 'abandonment of duties' (which is technically incorrect, unless they give you duties to perform and you don't show up, but that's their scare tactic).

If you want, use my resignation letter as a template, apart from the one weeks notice, which I gave by agreement with HR (it needs to be two or more depending on years of service), the resignation is correct and in line with the Woolworths NSW Enterprise Bargaining agreement. Please note that you must give notice of your resignation or the company may legally withold monies in lieu of notice. Ask for a certificate of service too, as the company doesn't give out references officially.

If you run into any troubles with it, let me know, I spent over a year as a union delegate, and currently still work for unions, so if you have any workplace issue relating to woolies, I've heard it, drop me a pm and I'll get back to you.

Here is my letter:

19 November 2008

The Store Manager
Woolworths Cxxxxx
Cnr Pxxxx and xxxxx Street

By Hand

Dear Sir/Madam,

Subject to discussions had with Woolworths regional human resources on 19 November 2008 and the provisions contained within the Woolworths Supermarkets NSW/ACT Agreement 2007, I Axxx Gxxx, submit my resignation from Woolworths Limited effective one week from 19 November 2008, being the minimum notice period allowed for resignation pursuant to section 5.10.4 of the Woolworths Supermarkets NSW/ACT Agreement 2007.

At such a time, I would also request that pursuant to section 5.12 of the Woolworths Supermarkets NSW/ACT Agreement 2007 that I receive statement, in writing from the company containing the date when employment began and the date of termination (by resignation).

If you have any further queries please feel free to contact me by telephone.

Omg! :O

First shift by myself in the cash office tomorrow! pretty nervous. I know pretty much what to do. Far out the Armour Guard guards are rude/mean

I go to get in there the other day coz I was starting my shift and I had the key and he goes, 'They're collecting the money, so you might have to wait' and I was like
'Ummm, I work in there' and showed him the key and he rolled his eyes..!
They're like that all the time, guess they have to be, being around so much money all the time.

People annoy me all the time wanting things, I know its my job to help them and stuff. Like in the morning, 'Can I have Gun 3?' like I dont have 600 other things to do lol.
*END OF RANT*

How is everyone doing at Woolworths?

We were open yesterday, 9am - 7pm.
It was so DEAD all day!
All the other shops in the centre were closed, most of the lights in the main section were turned off, so there weren't exactly many customers outside either.
I was meant to work 4 hours, but left early coz I was sick, so worked 3 and a half instead.

Ahh I'm leaving in like 2 months and have planned to do so for over a year. Everyone knows it including my department manager and the cash office manager. I mentioned it the other day to my dep manager and she was going "well who's gonna do blah blah nights and blah" then said "joking" but I think she was half serious. Hmm whatever. She offered me service manager training a couple of weeks ago, perhaps to keep me there? I'm leaving anyway.

I didn't work yesterday, wonder how it was..

Wow really? That is fairly delayed. You should ask at the cash office for a badge, or even your supervisor.

So I think I got the new badge today...Except it's still the same pin and plastic, just a new name insert with the new logo.
Damn, its actually the new plastic bit I really need.
It keeps coming undone and is difficult to put on.

On an unrelated note, I had a surprisingly good day in smokeshop today!
