How big, as in turnover per week like 100k, 120k more etc? How many registers etc and would you have a 2ic under you?

Im a 2IC of service and im 17 and got offered S/m but to me its not going to get me very far i want to go to upper management whether its woolies or somewhere else, so i chose uni.

But if you would like to be a store service specialist or ssm or something like that, its a good way to go and you will get there quickly by proving your self.
well yeah our stores doing over 115k per day, we're having a massive refurb too. at the moment there is no 2ic, just me. dunno if there would be one.. well for a while anyway.
think i'd like to go to uni any ideas?

We were told that securing our registers decreases our scanning rate, besides, it was never something we did at my store.
I got my scanning rate up to 19.7 today, was so excited.

funny that, i was told the opposite. does anyone know how to check scanning rates with the new registers?

Well I went to the induction today so I guess I'm a Woolworths employee now! The induction was very informative and detailed. However, I have never worked in a supermarket in my life so I don't know what to expect. I hope I made the right decision in joining the Fresh Food People. Oh, and what do we all think of these shirts? They are unique I guess.
well, yes.. the shirts.
uh. to me? they look like something that has rolled under the registers and been left there for months. i like to call it my mould shirt

i fucking HATE the sleeves on the girl's shirts..can we get ones that are short-sleeved? it's hard to get my jumper on with those stupid sleeves and then it looks stupid coz it bulges a bit since the cuffs are still fairly stiff :(

Does anyone know if it's possible or easy to change jobs at Woolworths? I desperately wanted to work as a service cashier but I couldn't because I work full-time somewhere else. The only job they would let me do was nightfill so I took it. Anyway, I am having issues with my full-time employer and I actually wish I had applied for service cashier with full availability (Maybe I would have gotten it then). Anyway, if I leave my full-time job I'm stuck with a nightfill job which I only took because I wasn't available during the day. But if I leave my full-time job I WILL be available during the day. Do you know what I mean? Sorry if my rambling is hard to understand. I'm a bit frustrated at the moment.

BWAHAH you're talking about the 3/4 sleeves yeah?

I got those for Coles too.. I just fold and bunch my jumper sleeves up towards my elbows so the stiff cuffs aren't obvious.. but it kinda does defy the use of the jumper..

And my uniform is really dodgily cheap.. On the second week I wore it [I dont even work everyday], I was undoing the buttons, and the button itself snapped in half between my thumb and my forefinger.. how lame.. so the button at my neck is only half a button

Plus they're huge.. I ordered a size8 and the shirt that came felt like a size12.. like a parachute..

They introduced the 3/4 shirt.. you got the choice to choose.. and since the 3/4 shirt was more fitted I chose that.. cept I should of gotten a smaller size cos it's still huge on me

Fold the sleeves over where the split begins, then fold the fold in half again. Then you don't really notice the sleeves. :)

come neatly presented. speak up. do everything that is asked of you. that's all really, its not exceptionally hard to get to the next stage. most of the stuff they ask you to do is common sense really.

our store manager is on $55k i think + company car
You SM is at the wrong store lol!

Ours takes home well over 120k plus a brand new commodore, brand new house for only 50 bucks a week free power etc etc.

And lets not get started on how much the managers get in bonuses!!!

Most Dept Managers are on around 50k a year, Perishables is the worst paid along with Deli all other Depts are paid pretty well. But they do get bonuses which can be 5-20k so thats where they make their money.

Our store does well over a million bucks a week and we had a 23% increase in sales from last year last week so think of the $$ the managers are getting out of that.

2IC's dont get shit either!

Re scanning rates: You should be securing your registers for security reasons and it 'pauses' your scanning rate.

My stores giving me the shits at the moment though, we are doing 200k a day and we usually only have like 4-5 operators and no one to call so we have huge q's and management wont let us have staff but winge because there are q's and we are not allowed any overtime at all because too many stores are using it.

Roll on the new financial year!! Roll on January when i move to Perth :)

hahaha i was running service last week while our S/M was away and i went 4 grand over budget in wages lol and i got a lecture from our area manager on the importance of reducing wage expenditure  i was trying not to laugh through the whole 'lecture' it was actually amusing being told off when were budgeting the same wages as last year with 23% more sales!!! WTF

Rant over! :)

they arent allowed to put security cameras in the locker rooms or bathrooms...but they are entitled to do locker searches if they suspect something...a guy at a friends store got asked to open his locker and it was full of DVD's - well over $2000 worth and he admitted hed been selling them for months!

Our store won this cricket jersery for the highest rexona sales in the country, so if we buy wish cards we go in the draw to win that and puts our store in the running.
