Damn Easter, I only worked 6 hours today but it was the worst shift, definitely worse than Christmas Eve
I think that most people agree that easter is worse than christmas, probably to do with during christmas there is a build-up period where people think about shopping in advance. This rarely happens at easter.

Worked 5-10 yesterday, but only til 8.30 on checkouts ( rest were in cash office). It wasn't busy until about 8.30, I'm so glad that the other girl going to cash office insisted that I close at 8.22, because as soon as we went upstairs, we couldn't even walk through the queue with the two tills that we were able to take up (out of 24 registers, this was annoying).

But, rofl at our seafood department. They had run out of the popular types of fish by 6.30. Boy was there a lot of complaints at our manager after that.

im a longlife dude and today some crazy woman started ranting to me saying that there aren't enough registers open - when i pointed out that all the registers were open she started complaining how we aren't putting the customer first....21 registers usually would be enough....the store cant fit any more in!

worked 4am-2pm today.

was hell.
=/

freaking customer complained after the deli specialist for this area (doris) told the customer that he couldn't pick out only the drumsticks in the marinated wingettes (which have both drumettes and wingettes; i didn't knw that they weren't allowed to do that)
had a go as blah blah blah blacktown and prospect do that. only this shop doesn't do it.

wtf. if why not go to those shops then?
and then he had tha audacity to ask for 1kg of another flavour of drumettes only.

but itw as flat out busuy in the deli. to make matters worse i had kendo training yesterday. WAHHH

same thing happened to me last week, only the service manager was handing out capsules at the time and turned to the customer and said "if you can find another register, I'd be more than happy to open it myself, just for you".
Yeh I dunno how he hasn't been fired yet.

Can someeone help me out........
I am on a contract- permanent part time(shifts on Wednesday,Saturday and Sunday). In the past when I have been rostered on and that day happens to be a public holiday I have still got paid for the number of hours I was supposed to work (just single hours not public holiday rates- which is fair enough) Last Sunday was a public holiday, shop was closed and I got NO pay for that DAY - I had been told to either put in for 1 day of holidays or get no pay. IS THIS RIGHT???????????? I have heard nothing or seen nothing on noticeboard about this at the supermarket where I work!!

last sunday actually wasn't a public holiday so you can't claim anything even if the store was closed.

after scanning the agreement there is nothing in there about that....

it says if the store is closed on a PUBLIC HOLIDAY then you get your regular pay but nothing about if the store is closed on a non-public holiday, and, as watatank mentioned, sunday wasn't a public holiday...
