oh he knows we don't like him, the amount of times we're bitching about him and he walks in is actually laughable.
but he loves himself enough to make up for it.

i suppose there's no region 1.5ers who know exactly which ssm i'm on about?
Speaking of which, tomorrow is our STM's last day at our store. I was only just getting to know him...

I reckon this is the best management crew we've had at our store in a long time, and I have a feeling that three of our four are moving on VERY soon (STM is becoming SM at another store, both SSM's are going elsewhere). Its annoying, because I need to be on good terms with both our SSM's for so many reasons (between service, tickets, cash and workers comp), and to get new ones is super annoying for me.

EDIT: Well I guess it is annoying for everyone, but I'm forever needing to track down an SSM for one reason or another.

Yuck! During probably the busiest period of the week.
Yeah...probably. I hate getting in when nothing has been done i.e. bags, cleaning, receipts, etc...At the very beginning of my last shift, I had one that froze up right at the end of a transaction, because the previous SCO attendant didn't replenish the receipt roll.
Needless to say, I was on the receiving end of that 'peeved customer goes ballistic' episode.

Today was mega interesting!
Got to work at 2:50, walked into the shopping centre and all the roller doors were closed. I'm thinking WTF!?.
Our SSM was near the roller door from inside, and i'm like "Kristina..? What's going on?", shes like "Come in", so they opened the roller door for me.

There was a car crash which caused a black out, this was not a problem but the coil that was supposed to deliver/switch to UPS fried for some reason. This left us without registers or power to heaps of stuff for hour and a half or so. Freezers turned off and wouldn't come back on, we had to get seperate people in for that (the doors were taped together till close time lol).

Everyone was evacuated from the store, staff put EVERY item back that was in baskets/trollies. People halfway through transactions were also evacuated (nothing could be done). There was a HUGE gathering outside the roller doors because people were like "wowmg what's happening?!?!" since we were all running around inside, etc etc. That was fun.

I wouldn't have been happy if I was one of those customers though.
You dont work at the northland safeway, do u? The safeway at Northland had its power out for ages, then ours (coles) went out, then came back on, then fuckloads of customers came over (im guessing from safeway due to u guys closing). but yeah when our power went out we had fuckloads on angry customers, and we couldnt do shit because we had no power.

But u would think that supermarkets and other places which depended heavily on its electricity to function would have invested in a decent UPS which dont stuff up when there needed.

My SSM left a lovely note for me, as follows:

"Jess
You have tickets to put up tomorrow.
I haven't written you a new RTW plan so you're still cool to do this. I know you're super unco but PLEASE try to use your left arm. Your paperwork is keeping me up all night as it is.
Kidding
*SSM's name*

PS - Swap into smokeshop if you need at any point. I'm not that much of a dickhead."

And he wonders why noone likes him!
Haha sounds like the sort of note I'd leave. I'd prolly dislike your SSM simply due to the fact that he sounds like me.... clash of similar personalities! :p

Our STM is too oblivious to anything to realise everyone hates him
Aw :( does everyone hate their managers?? I <3 my STMs, SSM and SM. Is this a bad thing?? :cold:

Also, I do not feel like going to work. Starting any earlier than 4.30 or 5 is a bit of a drag. (I will be starting at about 4.15 or 4.20 ick)

Hahaha! Sounds fun! I remember when our store was closed for a week cos all the registers got fried when we had that huge storm! Pretty sure the lightening hit the centre...had to close the roller doors manually..which wasnt easy! On the up side no work for a week and new registers..they go super fast haha!

Hahahhaha :D
We all laughed cause you had to run two supermarkets in one :D LOL.
So tell me the whole story, I wanna see how it compares to ours.

We lost 6k that day due to the hour and half we were closed.

It was fucking busy - really busy - busier than xmas eve. Well first the registers were going out one by one, and we were all like wtf, and then suddinly everything just turned off except for the security lights, sowe had to kick everyone out and close our roller doors, and put our stuff back. Then about 30 mins later the electricity came back on, so we opened up again then i think ur lights went out - then it was really busy because we were serving your customers and our customers, so we had everyone from grocery/dairy/office come to the front to serve on the regsters (for like a few hours, so it was like priority 1 on steriods). I was pissed. wished i was working at safeway so i could bludge.

Oh, and another story, our brilliant store manager pulled everyone off there breaks to come serve at the front, so you would think he would come serve at the front to? wrong, he went back to his office and sat on his fat ass. And when our SM asked why he isnt at the front he stated "Its not my job to serve the customers."

Wow. I bet the SM wasn't very popular after that stunt!
I was joking around with our staff yesterday, and I said "I bet Coles has EVERY manager they have on a register hahhaha", minus one i now know :p.

Everyone was freaking out, the customers were like vultures outside the roller doors, and they were watching like "what the fuck?!11".
It's a shame I got there in the last 20 minutes of it! :(

Oh by the way, lol. On Australia day, stores were only meant to open at 10am. We had our roller doors closed till about 8am when my STM goes:

"Stores aren't meant to open until 10am, but coles has their doors open so i'm going to open ours, idc, if we get told to close then i will close them again" - I loled :p

So much competition!! And last Sunday, the security wanted our roller doors closed on the DOT! They were standing there forcefully making us put them down, my duty manager was like "Have Coles closed theirs?!?!?????"

lololol.

As a country town we have fairly often interruptions, but our UPS powers our registers until the lights come back on powered by our generator. The generator kicks in after 5 secs without power, and powers the lights, computers and registers. So we still trade for like 1 hour, then we kick the customers out and start to cover up the fridges.

But its funny, it was so busy one saturday morning, and the entire plaza went dead, and all the screaming annoying loud customers shut up and stopped moving - and you could only see the checkout operators from the glow of the screen lol
Haha our UPS only powers the registers, and a few little security lights dotted around the store. We don't have another generator that powers everything else, so when our power goes we have to go around and escort all customers outside until the power comes back on for the pure reason that our security cameras aren't on a backup, so they turn off too.

It's happened twice since I've been there.

Hahaha yeah were abit slack with things like that, not sure about the roller door thing on Uastralia day because i had the day off XD. But the security guards come and tell us to close the doors all the time, there just grumpy assholes.

But yeah, we deserve a medal for working in Northland...all those bogans.
