But that is a Clause resulting from actual differences between the states. I don't think we need each state to have different conditions regarding the payout of leave loading when people quit. I know it's happened because of neither sides wish to give in to the other- do you think over time they will consolidate things?
Out of interest why do you think wa tourism precinct stores have a lot to lose?
I must have missed this, sorry!
I haven't read the agreement, so all I'm saying is hearsay/my opinion. The differences I mentioned are very different from leave loading etc. Until I've read that I won't comment.
The only reason why I think tourist precincts in WA will lose out is because certain stores in WA are paid at a much higher rate than others (through the year, not just when penalty rates are applied). My store gets paid more than another store 10-15 minutes away because we are required to trade sundays/late nights/public holidays at set points in the year. If a national agreement sets pay at a set level, I may as well go and work at the store that doesn't require those hours.
(Not saying that I would, because as a casual working sundays is quite beneficial to me, but for others it could make a difference.)
My comment is more one of me being selfish and wanting my higher pay rate, rather than there being an actual issue. Like I said, I'm going to wait to see what actually is included before I judge it more harshly.
