I'm motivated by my own expectations, and I think that after 12 years of school, I want to come out of their with a number that I like.
I want to make ME proud. I also want to make my parents proud.
I also want to get into the uni course I want to get into- Media/communications.

For the people that have said they want to do well so they will have a "good life", that's fair enough, but a good UAI doesn't necessarily mean you've got it made. Your UAI is not the sole factor which will determine the way the rest of your life goes.

yeah at the end of the day the UAI is just a two digital number on a piece of paper. but another factor is that it opens the amount of choices you have after hs !

Or, you could find that you hate your course, and you could change courses.
So yes, the UAI is important, but it does not always mean happiness and success. You could fail your course, after all. The work doesn't stop after you get your four digit number.
