i thought the paper was a whole new level above the '08 paper, and incomparable with '07. I thought this year's was fairly long, and every question (bar qu 2 perhaps) had difficult parts. The difficult questions were evenly spread throught the paper. The last three qu's were quiet challenging. I'd say getting 75-80/120 for this paper would give an e4. And my guess is that people who get 90+/120 would align to the 94-95 region.

But, we'll have to wait and see...

It was:

e^(n/(n-1)) < (1 - 1/n)^n < e^(-1).

Then it asked for the limit as n tends to infinity, so you take the limit of all 3 parts of the inequality. When n tends to infinity, n/(n-1) tends to 1.

So e^(-1) < (1 - 1/n)^n < e^(-1), so (1 - 1/n) ^ n = e^(-1) when n is large. Then the rest of the proof is simple.

lol. i think i'll be joining you in the E2 club. fuck 4unit maths. just fuck it.
I think I'm in the E2 club as well. :)

What would say a 65-70/120 be in terms of bands?

i didn't do many past papers so i cant really compare but it seemed like a fairly doable test except too long.. i ran out of time and didnt get to touch question 8 or 7 b) ... other stuff i couldnt do was 6c) ... couldnt get out the right force equations for the conical pendulum question either =s
but i think someone who knew the course well and managed their time should have gotten 100+ pretty easily
so no e4 for me i dont think ): damnit.

nah dont think this years cut off would be high, i think it will be around 70s odd, only a handful of people would prolly get over 100, dw worry man all will be good.
I hope so. But what makes you say that an E4 this year would be 70s?

What are *you* expecting to get? :)

I thought it was actually do-able during reading time, but when I got to the questions it was so doable anymore, I can't believe I screwed up integration and bits of the cicular motion. Still hopefully, I can make it to a lower E4s, hopefully~~~~:jump:

I found this year's paper easier relative to other years, such as last year. Hoping for a mid-to-high e3. I think i got around high 70's to 80 out of 120, because i went abit too slow and only answered 5/30 marks from Q 7-8.

I thought integration question was harder than usual! How do you do Q 1e??

I counted up 14 expected lost marks and don't expect to have made many if any silly mistakes, so I should get in the low 100's.

It's just so frustrating that when I start typing down some of the Qs I didnt get in the exam, I figure them out there an then... Bleh...

Q6.c.iv) wtf the idea was basic, but I couldn't squeeze it out
Q7.a) FUCK!! I hate 4U motion...
Q8.c) Cool. Why stress about not knowing probability well enough when they can just throw me an impossible one to bitch on about?

I didn't get Q1.e) at first either, I used a bad substitution. But then I came back and realized that it should be x=tanu

Bugger all you smart people :p I found it far easier than our schools trial, and I feel hopeful for a better mark than I got in trials... but I got 36 ;p

nearly everyone at my school (ie 5 out of the 7) got 30s-40s in the trial... and they all thought today was harder, but I found it easier... so I'm seriously worried that i've screwed up, even by my standards (that or studying actually paid off.... not likely for me). I found some of the later questions kinda easy... like, too easy. The circle geometry... was just cinch. and it was q5 or 6 :/ so I dunno.

Glad it's over. Time for the simpler ex1 :)

Ok this is my view on the paper:-

- diffently easier than past hsc
- 7 and 8 were extremley hard
- i finished question 1-6 with 1 hour to go
- lost alote of marks in q 7 8
- this paper i think didnt really test your knowlege, but rather a paper which makes you think outside the box.
- probably got hopping 90+
- circle was extremely easy, i was frustrated to see that i got the question out in less than 30 seconds than it took forever to write it down
- aha lol at the polynomail questions so easy
- so q1-q6 for me was extremey easy
- to tell u the truth i was disappointed, that they made it pretty easy, i wanted to have struggled for the 50%.

yea so that is it
GL to every1 in 3u tomz, i think they will make it hard since 4u was fairly easy

I also wished there was more volumes and more probability.
UGH! that test was SOOOO easy, when i look back at it. On the train home, i felt like killing myself because i couldn't get some easy ones. Stupid exam pressure...
for me, time wasn't an issue, i had a knowledge problem with some questions and a mental blank for the rest.
I had the time to count how many marks i have MAXIMUM, and it's 54/120. what band and scaled mark would that align to?
