Here's something cool, I was doing the CUP's for a fair bit when it was being done for the whole store, I was using an RF gun to request tickets, and back office to print!
Today I used back office for it all (had to print some Meat Dept Specials etc.), I'm finally getting a grasp of back office, but unfortunately not for long since it's all being changed and updated in a month or few..
Our 2 office girls are going down to Norwest to learn the new system!

Lol the funniest thing happened today. A lady came through SCO with two packets of underwear and theY were scanning at $514.76 each, so after scanning just two items her total was at over $1000. The groceries manager was nearby so I called him over and I'm like, hmmm take a look at that and tell me what is wrong.. We both killed ourselves laughing. He went off to check the real price, but cause it was from a clipstrip and the ticket was missing he just found a similar product for $9.99, so we gave her one pair free (scanning policy) and another at $9.99. I said to the customer, that is so hilarious, it has actually made my day.. I've never seen anything like that happen before... So funny :p

Haha gold! That 's quite hairy-less. Having three people all day sucked. The Duty Mgr said I did a good job though.

First swapped weekend close tonight. On ma lunch break! It's heappss quiet! I'm use to having all the same staff, but cos i'm on different week ends now there are different people too. I knew who was good at cleaning and stock etc, and who to keep on a register cos they were shit lol. Now I have to figure everything out all over again! haha.
I think I'd prefer doing this weekend though, seems heaps dead but same amount of staff. Everything is been done already! I'm usually rushing till about 10.30-11pm..I'm sure tomorrow night will be a different story..always is! haha.

Whats everyone up to?

P.S I split my supervisor vest button..I must be getting fat LOL! Will have to get mum to sew it back up, shes in the office tonight..bit weird. On my back about fucking pick ups! And its never my fault!

I had a thought today, our meat manager is a little lazy, thus doesn't put specials stickers on stuff on special,
Tell me your thoughts on them, do you reckon they increase sales?

I reckon the yellow and red draws the customer in to want to get it more cause it's ON SPECIAL...

do you people reckon it really makes a difference?

Hey guys,

Rather then blabbering on I thought I'd just ask straight up;

Are under 16s allowed to slice in the Deli department? I'm fifteen and have been told by various fellow employees I can't as it's against the law, while a few others say I can. Slicing isn't hard work or anything, but I would like to know.

State? When I was 15 and in deli in NSW I wasn't allowed to use the slicer or touch the ovens :)

Definitely.

Got my full driver's license yesterday so I'm going to tell my SM tomorrow that I think he needs to put me through the forklift course :p In a pretty good position because in the last month 2 forklift drivers have actually left and usually there is no driver on a Sunday so we have to rely on the truck drivers to unload.

Doesn't help with the smaller DSD's.

Everybody in our Area hates on Devonport Woolies cos they do mega-sales and steal everybody else's refurb budgets.
Don't worry, they may have a pretty store but they have no meaning of the word 'express'. There were about 7 people in the express queue and ONE checkout open. The supervisor did open a second one only when his friends joined the queue. Although I guess that is a benefit that comes with having express joined to the service desk, if it's busy the supervisor can quickly duck over and serve a couple of customers to shorten the line.

Not entirely sure for Victoria, speak to your deli manager or the Fresh Food STM about it, imo.

My deli manager says I'm allowed to slice, but I don't know if she's actually saying the truth or just saying I can to make me slice =/

In that case speak to your FF STM, or casually ask the deli specialist when they're next in :)

That said, if you're trained, no one's going to raise an eyebrow if they see you slicing (i.e. on the off chance someone DID come in and ask your age, and you told them 15, you'd have no personal responsibility..)

Personally, I'd just continue doing what you're doing, not much point kicking up a fuss.

No you aren't allowed to slice until you're 16. I work in service, but a bloke from our Deli Department told me that the other week.
