Is it super sad that this was the first thing I thought when I heard it on the news?

Otacon2007 - you alive there buddy? lol

lol of course I'm still alive. I have been on holidays since Christmas Day and as a result, can't report on anything new. Also, the bombing occured at an insurance office that occupies the plaza with Woolies being the anchor tennant (though I think they own it). I worked at a Woolies in the suburbs.

And is anyone currently employed at Kelvin Grove, Ashgrove or Paddington Queensland? I'm heading to one of the three stores in about...a week or so time, depending on how slow HR act on my transfer.

Lol.
Any department can go to the backdock and put rubbish in at ANY time. They just jump on the P.A and say "keys to the back dock", then person with the keys runs them up.

Simple :p

Whatttttt lol.
That said our system works out ok. I was reminded earlier that sometimes if you ask nicely, the SSM/STMs will do a service 80 if you need one done!

one of my other supervisors is leaving my store :( I'm gonna miss her she was like a favourite of mine, we got along so well she would let me do a lot of the stock and all that, she was the best to do open with on saturday morning, she would let you get a drink or food if you were hungover and let you do simple tasks not serving ah good times

Same at my store, we never call service 80's, we just grab the keys and dump stock whenever we want. Our bins aren't locked either, but it would be hard for anyone to chuck their own rubbish in there without a staff member seeing, as they are right in front of the dock. unless they did it in the dead of night I suppose, people do crazy things lol.

We leave our cardboard bails in the carpark. Some smart person last night decided, in their quest for boxes, they would cut open all the bails, and leave a pile of cardboard in the carpark for us to clear up in the morning. Waste of half an hour. Shat me off.

Same! hehe.

17 hrs next week grumble grumble, cut back from thirty something. I've put my hand up for produce/grocery/systems.

Oh and one of the good operators today was telling me how everyone has been saying that i do a really good job running front end and that everything's been more organised since I came. I was so chuffed, no one EVER compliments anyone at work.

Good job dude, compliments feel amazing especially when you're having a crapola day, really makes the difference.
Any tips?

like you yoddle, my hours were shit as for next week. i originally had 24, which sucks compared to my usual 30-45 (well since november anyway). but i got the reject hours, so awesome :D

i may be inheriting the thursday night sup shift, on one hand it'll be good for me to have a regular shift that i do all the time (since i can't do the tuesday close anymore that i had last year), but on the other hand i hate thursday nights. my 2ic is convinced i'm right and ready for it, but our csm probably won't see it that way.
also having an 8.30-3.30 uni day plus work 5-10 is going to suck.

omgz we had the biggest issue with "too many chiefs, not enough indians" today. its rare that we have these issues, but when our csm isn't there, its a big problem.

Normally when our CSM isn't there, it's the not-quite-so-clichéd "too many customers and not enough Frontend staff". :)

almost forgot, there were no operators rostered AT ALL for our last 2.5 hours of trade. lol only took until 2pm today for someone to notice.
wow that sounds crazy - it gets abit like that at coles too when the CSM isnt around, all the supervisors hide around the kiosk while all the workers assigned to registers work there asses off.

No, I mean there was 1 supervisor and 1 smokeshop operator rostered. Thats it - 2 people. Even 3 is a stretch, so two would have been near impossible.

hey guys, this past tuesday i got told the worst news ever my store Wheelers Hill Woolworths are getting Rid of nightfill and they actaully doing it aswell which is freaking me out big time, ive had to call the union twice about it, and just yesterday they have put all the nightfiller on evening
on the rooster , when i was in the nightfill meeting my manager said the reason they are getting rid of nightfill is because of profit no money, i could't belive it when i heard it, plus get this Woolworths will be tring to get rid of Nightfill Completly in the next few months, the money i'll be losing will be $230 which is heaps at the moment i am looking for a new new job there is no way i'm going to evening., i honestly don't want to leave woolworths either since i just hit 6.5 years and so close to long service but when they do something like this what choice do i have, plus working nightfill now way different now, they are giving alot annual leave's now which is weird ive already 2 annual leave days this week which is uncommon, this is just a little warning to any woolworths/safeway nightfiller out there prepared for the worst in the coming months

Kinda had a crap night! I was the only one in produce, & because of grocery staff being cut I was sent to grocery to face up, for over an hour. put me way behind in my own department! just glad I'm not in tomorrow to face my pissed off DM.

Front end only had supervisor & 2 operators, No one in S/S. deli had 2 staff with one cleaning up in bakery for SM.

Just wondering, when receiving loads, what does it mean to Post the load or not? What is it and why/why not do it?

Thanks

Haha yes, today after our CSM and 2IC left we had 1 supervisor/kiosk operator to look after 7 operators.

Let your Produce Manager know...Man if a Duty manager (or anyone else) directed one of my staff members to another department to do something (except Checkouts/express) I would be so angry.

Thursday night my supervisor had to do a liquor break, so she got somebody else in self serve and put me in s/s to kinda fill her place since i have half a clue (unlike some people there).

"Send xx on break, put xx to take over, when xx comes back go do xx job", was great to do something different.
