Wow I didn't even think it was possible to get 0% in a mystery shopper test. Even with no staff on the grocery floor I'm sure someone was there in other departments? Our SM is disappointed with 95% lol.

What I find hilarious about my current SM is that 80%ish in a mystery shopper test is the end of the world, yet customer complaints are frequently laughed off with no further action taken beyond assuring the customer it won't happen again and apologising for it.

Seriously, some of the complaints I've got about me personally merited loggings and I conceded as much, but because it doesn't end up back at Head Office we really don't care. However, mystery shopper results do end up back there, so...

Geez, 0% is harsh!

Hopefully management and look at why they got 0% (in other words, their epic failure to staff effectively on a public holiday, manage bag stock levels etc)

Do Woolworths mystery shoppers just look at checkouts? We get judged on Deli, Checkouts as well as a few Fresh Focus questions (like "Did the bananas look fresh enough that you would buy them?" and "Did the french sticks look well-prepared?")

That particular day there would have been one produce assistant on the floor, and possibly someone in meat - thats it. Everyone else was on checkouts.

I just remembered that I forgot to sign keys and draws in last night, oops :haha:

Happy Birthday Harry!
Re: complaints - our SM was dealing with an angry customer who was amazed about our "3 items no automatic bag" policy lol.
Was funny to watch, SM gave him a bag and after arguing he was on his way.

We have that policy too, but we still have to ask them if they would like a bag, i.e we can still give them out if they have just one item. Like I was standing behind a customer in line yesterday and he had one bag of toilet rolls, and he said "Uhmm can you put that in a bag?"

Idddddiot.

Yeah but having to ask is pathetic. You heard the Woolworths radio ad about the 3 items policy, he says

"If you have less then three items, we wont automatically offer you a bag" etc, so it's stupid how some stores make you ask anyway.
I love how people look at you and speak like ".......put it in a bag?" if they have 1 or two easily carry able items, idiots.

I forgot to mention. About two months ago our store started blocking all outgoing calls (except for managers office and cash office phones).
The only calls you can make from phones now are speed-dial numbers.

Fucking pathetic way of saying a dollar. "Hmmm what way can we cost cut now? We've slashed wage budgets, hours, staff, hmmm. Oh! lets disable phone calls so we save 25 fucking cents each call"

Sad.

Chances of getting overtime at Woolworths? Hmmmm....how about zero/nil.

In regards to the mystery shopper - I can't stand how management over reacts to the report every single time. You'd think we flicked boogers at the shopper
I loled.

Nooooo! I ring up people all the time! Apparently when the old SSO left the phone bill went down like $200 something dollars.

Re: bag policy, I'm not sure if it's been abolished, i haven't heard it on the radio in a while. Yesterday when i signed on to a register it was like "remember to ask the customer if they require a bag" like SIX times (that makes me SO angry when they do that), but i saw the CSM/Duty manager playing around on Office so I think she was sort of experimenting, or did it by accident, and it only came up once. I don't care how many complaints they get, I thin it's a good commonsense policy which I will still use.

For such a small store we go through bags like like hot potatoes.

Notes from today: an old couple were full on mackin' on right next to me it was so disgusting cos they were both ugly. The other supervisor and I were trying to have a conversation about breaks and it was so distracting we had to move. And another oolder woman bought reduced horny goat weed and here friend was like "oh, you got the wyld woman one!" and she was like "yeah, i'm gunna be a wild woman tonight!". I laughed.

*facepalm*

It probably wouldn't even be 25 cents, more like 5 with the amount of calls Woolworths would make.

We yet people use our service desk phone all the time if they need to call a bank, taxi, RACT, etc.

My store was similar, pressing a line was blocked, except I discovered that you press speed 2222 then you get an outside line and speed 3333 to get a mobile...

If their blocking it the same way, there may be a code like that you could see if you can find...

can anyone confirm that the bag policy has been abolished?
Yes, it definately has been
mystery shoppers used to buy 3 things to test that we DIDN't offer a bag, now when they do its to check that we DO offer them a bag!
But the other day I still heard the thing on the safeway radio....'if you buy 3 items or less we wont automatically give you a plastic bag....'
weird.

In my store, you can call an outside line from phones in the: Managers office, general office, cash office and service desk. To dial an outside line from the service desk though you need a code, which everyone has forgotten. So the CSM and SM were experimenting a few months ago and found another phone point in the General Office, plugged a phone into it and suprisingly enough it worked, and was able to dial outside lines. So he plugged a cordless into it and now the Supers carry a cordless phone around with them.

Then he went through all the extension numbers to try and figure out which one it was.

Re the bag thing: I don't give a shit about any bag policies, when I'm on express I don't have time to worry about packing xx amount of items into a bag or asking if they want a bag for 3 items or less. (Can you tell I'm environmentally conscious?!)

Whoa. So you dialed 2222 then the landline number, or 3333 and then the mobile number?

So 2222 is basically like pressing "Line x"? Oh my god if that works I think i'd be the hero at work

I'm going to have to try it too...Just out of curiosity.

Man that would be so awesome though. I wonder if dialling '1' for an outside line applies too

'0' is also a common number on different phone systems for an outside line.
