Specifically looking at expectations from other people, not just personal goals.

Personally I dont have much to worry about, however my Extension english and Extension history teachers have been talking about band 6 results (something I dont think I can achieve)...My Multimedia teacher has even hinted at potential state ranks for a few people in the class (i have no idea why he thinks its a possibility).

It sucks to know that they will most likely be disappointed, anyone else have similar stories?

state rank in multimedia? I don't get this...if you looked hard enough everyone in NSW would get state ranks for something.

irrelevant but;
would an ext 2 maths student be almost guaranteed to get a state rank in general maths?

no. There's some idiotic 4U students lol

Also, for some reason, when I did 4U, I was ranked 3rd accelerated, but my 2U rank was like 26th.

I think my parents will be most disappointed, eps. super nerd Dad who got 99.95 (or the equivalent in the 60's), and expects me to get at least a 95.... personally i'll be very pleased with 90 :)

me (throughout the whole year): "hey mum just warning you, i'm probably going to get a low atar"

mum (after trials): "yeah that's fine, just try your best! you'd at least get a 99 though, right?"

Yeah, friends think i'll get 98. -_-

I just want 90 +.

Amazing how expectations differ, but at the end of the day, it comes down to your own instincts and well, you being realistic.

my parents are the exact opposite of that
my mom is like "oh, so I reckon the maximum ATAR you'll get is 90. don't even think of doing actuarial unless if you work really hard for the externals"

My mum sorta averages out all my tests I do at school and assumes that's going to be ATAR.
She just hopes I pass... I feel sorry for her. WHY AM I NOT A CONVENTIONAL ASIAN?!
