Well I went into longlife for the day. Apparently it was all my fault and the other supervisor who rocked up now hates me. We were both getting supervision though to make it fair. She ended up supervising despite me being much better than her, she would have been hopeless in longlife.
Even if you are, they still need to share hours around equally IMO. They don't always do this at my store, and its a bit frustrating sometimes when everyone else gets all the hours, and you only get what your contracted.

Though they shoulda made it clearer to you...

For the past two weeks all my shifts have been cancelled :(

Time to start looking for a new job.
Yeah, they're being pretty skimpy on it now :( it sucks.

Although, in a few weeks time, there's only going to be me and 2 other supervisors + CSM working, while the rest of the supervisors are on holidays/leaving. Woot woot, I'm supervising every weekday afternoon except one. Looking forward to that :) be rakin' in the dough

Quick question.

After the store closed i logged onto self serve to see if j could remember my password. But then it wanted the notes/cash cage thing and I couldn't log off


Will I log of once the nightfill staff leave and the store turns off?

I've not much experience with self-serve, but I'm guessing not.

If Big W setup is virtually the same as the supermarket's, the supervisor can just login the next morning and "Force Log-off" in the Storeline OFFICE program at the workstation. So then it should just log you off and be as right as rain! Though I hope you left a note for them...
Or if that remote-access terminal at the self-checkouts has anything to do with that also?

EDIT: Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever tried force-logging someone off in the middle of a transaction? Like accidentally, or anything? Just wondering what would happen... haha

EDIT TAKE TWO: Also, random, but has anyone ever encountered serving a couple, to which the guy is like hugging the girl from behind and just decides to start feeling her up in front of you? Pretty sure thats like the regular thing that happens when I'm rostered as an operator... just so they can see my reaction to it. Makes me SO MAD!!... and awkward. :)

Nah, that should still work. It will still log you off properly, I've just only ever had to do it when the Storeline software crashes on the registers when a customer is mid-transaction. Happened again today. All we do is force-log off the operator and have to rescan all the customer's shit through another register.

We have to force-log off the operator, because he never went and signed off (even though the system crashed) the other registers will still think he's logged on and thus, won't let them sign on.

But if the register is in secure mode, force log-off will just normally sign someone out.

Sorry, I'm making this more confusing than it has to be. If I am.

Sorry for jumping all over the place, but this is a photo of Caloundra Woolworths I took a while back. As you can't see, it has 3 self serve, 3 express, 2 smokeshop. It also had 8 main registers. But the service desk was like so weird, it had the 3 express one said, the 3 SCO on the opposite side. Then it was just this desk in the middle of this square prison. Looked awesome! I want it!

if you force logoff during a transaction it will generally say 'can't log off' some kind of message. depending on timing it might log them off after.

Basically, for register training, just ask the service manager, and also mention you're keen for hours. If you've got good availabilities it might help.

(Not much point getting an RSA til you're comfortable on register, as in liquor there won't be someone as close by to help)

No lol, it doesn't work like that, not at my store anyway. Some supervisors are contracted to various day/night supervision shifts. The person contracted to Sunday day now does Duty Management, hence why I now do Sunday days. I'm the person that does Sundays, hence why my manager rostered me on, the SM gave her the shift as he assumed nobody else was doing it. He didn't tell the CSM that she is doing it, hence why we were both put on.

She already has other supervision shifts, at least one contracted per week and anything else she gets replaced with on a weeknight. We only have about six supervisors remember.

My store commutes well.

I left a note in the cash office once saying I can't work 6 times a week (due to my hsc) and my next shift she left a note for me saying she got it. Maybe a poor medium but at least some communication.


At big w all rosters are done by one person so I guess that helps somewhat with doubling on supervisors.


In my store we have contracted supervisors to do day or night so there aren't maybe spare supervisors shifts. However in peak times they do roster causal supervisors.

It's a pickle at the moment. Actually, it' a mess. Basically one of the contracted supervisors started doing duty. So the SM (store manager) is constantly stealing her for duty, this means that the CSM is constantly running around trying to replace her shifts. This isn't the first time our supervisors have been taken for duty (leaving us with lack of svr's).
Anyway. She was going to supervise on this Sunday, but a last minute thing meant she had to do duty, so the SM goes "well just get xxxx to do it", but the CSM was not told that xxxx was doing it, so she rostered me on for it.

The thing that annoyed me is, management blamed my CSM (everything is her fault apparently) when it was their fault for not communicating it. How is my CSM meant to know that THEY replaced it? The CSM does the rosters, she's in charge of appointing supervisors, as far as she knew, nobody was rostered for supervision, hence why she put me on for it.

I was just suggesting how to try and find a few more hours. Registers could be an option. My brother quite often works a couple of hours registers before helping out nightfill

I haven't done it whilst someone was serving but i have done it to annoy the liquor staff member once. I'd look over and see that they'd walked away from their register to fill a fridge or something and i'd log them off.

As for SCO it should do its little reboot thing at 1am with all the other registers.

Hrm, due to uni I mostly can only work in the evening. Someone else suggested that I try to get shifts in deli or seafood as it's easier and less stressful than checkouts. Anyone here work in those departments?
