I graduated last year and I only see my friends from high school during the holidays. During the uni semester everyones busy and its hard for everyone to get together, but my high school friends are probably my closest friends so we do make the effort to catch up.

that's good, i hope me and my friends will be the same as we were in high school, i know that once people are graduated some of them you just won't see them for the rest of your life :( and it's sad...

untrue, unless you're going to uni and everyone is going to TAFE. If anything, I'm closer.

If you're going to the same uni it can be easy to catch up, however i do find it more difficult to meet up with friends from other uni's

I hope so. But I don't think I'll be seeing anyone except my closest friends from HS.

Haven't seen any of my high school friends yet apart from a few times where they were sitting opposite to me on the train and I accidentally made eye contact with them but I looked away immediately and made it look like I didn't recognise them. Things were about to get awkward if I hadn't looked away!

it's only worth staying in touch with your close friends/ girls you want to bang/ people who will be useful business contacts

if you're not making enough friends after high school that you still care about anyone except the above it means you're being too basement/too shy/not being involved in enough things at uni

I have most of the people I was remotely friends with in high school on facebook, and seeing their major announcements/life events a few times a year is more than enough 'in touch' i need to be for most of them

btw i would recommend befriending people in your course as soon as possible after uni starts otherwise it will be a lot more difficult after that. You don't want to get that reputation of being the quiet, weird guy.

Agree with the bolded.

As for the unbolded, you don't get the reputation as the weird, shy guy, but instead end up losing out on so much help you can get or give to others. There are people in our program which I have met only briefly a few times and by the amount of resources, fun and help all the closer friends who talk to each other everyday get (from experience), its clear they are missing out on a few things which would be beneficial to their uni experiences.
