Also if I have some really good extra curriculars will it make up for my bad grades. I'm prob gonna end up with C's for most of my subjects lol and maybe an A for DT and business if I lock in.

Yeah I'm gonna try and get an A but that means I have to get an 87% on the prelims which is hopefully doable

I'm not even sure they look at the extracurricular statement. I got chatgpt to write mine for me cause I was so not bothered to write it.

but isn't that the whole point of the maq early entry stuff. Also they said that they check for ai so how did u get away with that lol

This was back in 2023 when ai checkers weren't as good, or they just didn't check for ai in general. Fill it out properly, obviously, but I think the extracurricular statement is more of a tick-the-box requirement than something they actually rank applicants on. That being said, I'm not entirely sure how the extracurricular statement works so don't quote me on any of this. I just had some volunteering stuff I did through school, and some debating stuff on mine.

Applicant must demonstrate each of the following qualities through at least two of the activities (activity examples are listed further below): Leadership: mentorship, coaching or leading a team, collaboration and teamwork skills, empathy and self-awareness. Service and community engagement: positive benefit to others and active engagement in the school, local or wider community. Contribution and commitment: genuine connection with your chosen purpose, persistence and dedication to manage self and/or work with others to achieve a goal. Initiative: independent thought and action; ability to anticipate needs. Self-efficacy: self-awareness, personal learning and development.

So just make sure you satisfy the minimum requirement and have at least two of these and I think you're good.

Looking at it now, 3 essays essentially with only 40 minutes for each...

For each essay aim for 10 mins per body, setting aside 10 mins for the introduction and conclusion. Get used to cutting your essay down on the fly cause, in my experience, you won't be able to get all of it down. Also remember as much of the essay as you can, so you won't have to spend as much time thinking.

I generally just don't think the application is that deep. From my understanding, they just want to know you've done at least two leadership activities. Fill it out properly, but don't spend too much time on it, because after all, they have to look through thousands of these applications and just want to know you satisfy the requirements.

Lots of people I know got their Macquarie early entry with average grades and pretty standard leadership activities. It's different per course, but I don't think it's that hard to achieve.

anyone who did cssa chem - was the last question mod 8 iq3??? it seemed like chemical synthesis to me, but ive heard people say it was mod 5 equilibrium

getting COOOOKED in paper 1 the questions were actually easy but i always run out of time gonna get even more cooked in paper 2 tmr
