yes the ephorates would wage war on them every year. the ephorates also made a secret-police style squad of eiren men who would 'be dispatched in the countryside at night armed with daggers' according to Plutarch and would kill strong-looking helots who worked in the fields. this was part of a broader mission to quell revolts by a) removing helots who would pose a phsyical threat to Spartans, and b) demoralising them and making them scared, forcing them into submission.

Im deeply tapped into the periokoi the helots and women in sparta and thats it
ok women in sparta had minimal land ownership right in the beginning of the classical period, they could inherit land/estates from their family but did not own it and had to pass it down to offspring, whereas near the end of the classical period they got more land ownership rights and could manage their own estates and dowries while their husbands were doing service for Sparta. then aristotle got pressed bc women owned 2/5 of sparta's land and was like noooo this will lead to women government nooo
