guys when ur doing trig functions is it necessary to know how to do it without subbing in values into the calculator. For me it's faster that way but my teacher doesn't want us to do that cause we're in "adv". I'm actually not bothered tho cause the other way is so much longer

I don't think its necessary to know how to do it without subbing in the values to the calculator. I do that too. Idk how my friend just remembers the outcome of sinθ, cosθ, tanθ at different θ values just by practicing questions, unless I was intentionally trying to remember them.

it's definitely useful to be able to know the values/the general shape of the common trig functions because it can also be useful in reverse
(like if you need to find the value of theta for which sin(theta) = 1/2)
it's still fine if you sub tho

yeah screw my teacher I am gonna learn it for the sake of my teacher not harassing me every lesson but in the exam I am def subbing in values into my calculator. She just hates it when we memorise stuff and she wants us to "understand" cause that's how she found the "beauty" of math. But I just want to get it done the easy way bruh

wym they're pretty easy just gotta know the unit circle and values of each function for 0, 30, 45, 60 and 90 degrees for each function. if u memorise it (not that hard to memorise the same numbers over and over again) u'll be doing integration n stuff quicker. but obviously for like angles like 56 degrees or whatnot, you need a calc for it

no but like graphing them. Like for example cos (x- pi). They're easy but I'm just not bothered
