    Dr President Ron Paul

Re: Doctor President Pon Raul I cant refer you to any studies but ive heard from 2 or 3 people (academics, writers) that people prefer services to tax cuts. What a convincing argument. Why do you disagree with me?

Rudd takes axe to Work Choices

It depends on the individual union. Of course there are some left wing unions in Australia that are socialist and who want to see the end of capitalism. However, most unions do not believe in socialism and they believe the best way to advance their members lives is to see a profitable business...

    Dr President Ron Paul

Re: Doctor President Pon Raul Im no expert on taxes in the US. However, i thought the reason why medical care in the US is so expensive is because the government does not subsidise the health care of Americans. The goal of hospitals and health insurance companies is to maximise profit, they...

    Dr President Ron Paul

Re: Doctor President Pon Raul Ron Paul takes the free market and government deregulation to the extreme. He said he wants to abolish income tax. If there are no taxes the government cannot provide services. His economic policies would appeal to rich Republicans but the poor would be screwed over.

Rudd takes axe to Work Choices

There will be interim transitional employment agreements (ITEAs). They are essentially the same as AWAs except they have to meet Labor's new no-disadvantage test. ITEAs will be introduced after Labor's legislation gets passed in parliament. There are also common law individual contracts. No...

Rudd takes axe to Work Choices

I agree. Hopefully now that'll be the reality. Prior to 1996 there were closed shop arrangements whereby all employees had to become union members. When Howard came to power he brought in AWAs which took away the right to bargain collectively. Also, its interesting that Rudd hasnt said...

    Electives

There are electives within a degree and electives within a major. They are completely different. I assume that your talking about electives within a degree. Yes you can do a major (7/8 subjects) and then do another 2 subjects that are within the same discipline/specialisation for your degree.

Major in Economics in Commerce Degree

Im doing BCom and majoring in economics (business economics). I chose BCom because it was more flexible and when I started I didnt know what id major in. I hated QMB (statistics) and with me doing BCom I can avoid econometrics because it isnt compulsory. For someone doing a BEc and majoring...

    Rudd's cabinet

Stephen Smith has had a few portfolios over the past few years. About a year or two ago he was the shadow industrial relations minister. Then he moved to education and now its foreign affairs. I also reckon Julia Gillard has too much on her plate. Both IR and education are huge issues individually.

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

i forgot something. Australia becoming a republic, but i suppose its not the Liberal party that opposes it, John Howard is the obstacle.

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

I would but i disagree with them on: - industrial relations - education - foreign policy - environmental policy - social policies - aborigines - economic policy (a bit too conservative for me) - in the past they have used racism to try get the marginal seats those are the reasons i...

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Remember the actor in the Liberal ad defending WorkChoices a few months ago? He was an employer who didnt pay two of his workers.

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Theres two main reasons why I think Labor opposes DFEE. The first one is what Triangulum and I have said. The second reason is that most people who have DFEE places live in safe Liberal seats.

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

My views on higher education arent extreme jb_nc. I strongly support the HECS system and i am against free university education. HECS (CSP) places arent reduced.

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

DFEE places is a step towards the Americanisation of the higher education system. In the US almost all uni students pay the full-fee because their federal govt does not subsidise degrees. John Howard said a few years ago that there would not be $100,000 degrees in Australia (for domestic...
