    IE Help

Hey all, I've got a problem with IE, really dont know why it does it: Basically, when i type an address and hit enter it loads Firefox and opens the page in there, leaving IE blank and the page opened in Firefox. This started happening after i uninstalled IE7. I am back to IE6, and thats...

    Easy implicit differentiation

Because x and y are both in terms of x, xy is basically a product of two things that can be written in terms of x. So you use product rule, (xy)' = x'y + xy' = y + xdy/dx

    Teacher teasers...

LOL 00 resulted in a very, very, very long debate between myself, Xayma, who_loves_maths and brett. It lies somewhere in this forum, in a thread started by dreamerish i think.

    Teacher teasers...

the only thing i can think of for the 'dot' thing is dot product, which is a sort of multiplication, except multiplying vectors, not numbers.

What do you want to do when you graduate?

Oh how so much changes in a year. Right now, not really keen on the whole business things - either programming or managing. Looking more at the scientific aspects, probably leaning more towards my maths than comp sci degree actually. A combination of both would be great.

    Complex numbers

Cant* (although this problem looks a little easier than i remembered last year) UNSW is ok now, calculus is naturally slightly harder but manageable, stats is basically a rehash of 1905 with a little extra theory.

    Complex numbers

Is this usyd first year? I remember these, they make me cry :( I still can do them. Also, i'd be weary, you never know if theres some usyd maths faculty staff surveying here seeing if people ask others to do their assignment questions. If you're not from usyd, i'm sure you wouldnt wanna spoil...

    Binomial Theorem question

    x(1+x)n = x(nC0 + nC1 x + nC2 x2 + ... + nCn xn) x(1+x)n = (nC0x + nC1 x2 + nC2 x3 + ... + nCn xn+1) d/dx x(1+x)n = d/dx (nC0x + nC1 x2 + nC2 x3 + ... + nCn xn+1) (1+x)n + nx(1+x)n-1 = 1*nC0 + 2*nC1 x + 3*nC2 x2 + ... + (n+1)*nCn xn Let x = 1: 2n + n2n-1 = 1*nC0 + 2*nC1 + 3*nC2 + ... +...

    Maths Talented Students Program

To me it seems usyd definitely goes way ahead of unsw in terms of stats and probability (evident by the fact >50% of the 2nd year higher stats course was taught in first year at usyd) and has the edge in calculus in first year, unsw seems to have the edge in terms of algebra though.

The "HOLY CRAP IT'S 4:05AM AND I'VE BEEN STUDYING FOR HOURS" Thread

It really depends, if you do a hardcore coding subject you could be up to the early hours of the morning coding. However this year (for me at least) my workload at home seems really light. Basically in a week the norm would be: 10 or so tute questions for each maths subjects (i do two), which...

    pM - Maths Vs Physics

Physics way is the same as the Maths way, except you just skip the integration and start from the formulae you'd normally derive in maths.

Honestly, the notes i used to make my ones were supplied free, so it'd only be fair to keep my ones free. Although i havent uploaded all of my notes due to size restrictions...

The "HOLY CRAP IT'S 4:05AM AND I'VE BEEN STUDYING FOR HOURS" Thread

Sat for about 6 hours saturday (literally thinking, not actually doing anything) trying to work out how i'll answer the last part of my programming assignment after the first 5 parts took 1-1.5 hours tops all together to complete. Didnt help much, although i did actually solve it in about 10...

So UNSW ppl.. How many mates/friends have u made so far!!!

I generally have trouble talking to maths and comp students (well not so much trouble, because personally i dont really care). I just dont mingle well with them, despite the fact its my degree. I've spoken to no one in these subjects, but in my arts subject i took this year ive spoken to many...
