NSW introduces new standards for student teachers

Brainwashing children into tolerating and accepting difference? Disgusting!

NSW introduces new standards for student teachers

I think that senior English could be made more basic, but I'd disagree that it should be all about the English canon and essay-writing. I think elements of the current syllabus - particularly encouraging people to think about how techniques are used to create meaning in all types of texts, not...

NSW introduces new standards for student teachers

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2007/06/26/1961998.htm Gasp! Political correctness! And ... how is anti-racism (which I assume is what Stoner means by 'racism' in that context) too politically correct to be taught in schools? Interesting that grammar and spelling will be tested. You'd...

    Semester I Chatter Thread (2007)

Re: Semester I 2007 - Chatter Thread! If anyone wants to get in early, the copy centre has started putting up readers for next semester, here. They don't have many, though. It's mainly selected education, gender studies and history units.

Transferring to Combined Law after second year?

Yep. You can only transfer after first year. I think that's the policy at most universities.

Re: Subject Reviews - UPDATED WITH .PDF on first post ANHS1003 Foundations for Ancient History: Greece Lecturers: Dr Alastair Blanshard, Dr Julia Kindt, Ben Brown Ease: 8/10. In terms of assessment load, this was the easiest subject I did this semester. There's only one piece of non-exam...

Official Semester 1 (2007) Exams Thread

Re: Official Semester 1 Exams Thread What was the colonisation question? I semi-prepared colonisation and gave up on it after I looked at the question, but I can't remember what it was.

Official Semester 1 (2007) Exams Thread

Re: Official Semester 1 Exams Thread ANHS1003 was today. Which was ... interesting. I sort of kept on gazing off into the distance because I was so sick of writing stuff. The actual exam was harder than I expected but the questions were reasonably fair. I think I was lacking with the critical...

Re: Semester I 2007 - Chatter Thread! I don't mind the new one, but it could do with more pictures and deeper colours.

    Semester I Chatter Thread (2007)

Re: Semester I 2007 - Chatter Thread! I only have the pre-login screen changed, not MyUni proper. Am I having cache issues or is that all there is to it?

Can we change second sem subjects still?

Yeah, we can. I think the deadline to add units is the same as Semester 1 (Friday of the first week of semester). Deadline to withdraw from units is the census date.

Costa thrown out of NSW parliament

Wow, a government member being disciplined in parliament seems so unfamiliar in Australia. And Peter Primrose is a member of the same party as Costa! What's going on? On a side note, what the hell sort of name is Peter Primrose?

    How much effort?

Ditto for me, both at HSC and uni level. Except I didn't do homework early. In most cases, I didn't do it all.

    Compulsory English

Studying grammar intensively for two years would actually be like hell. That would be something I'd object to. English only makes up 20% of your UAI. I got a mid-90s UAI with a low Band 5 in English, if you're competent in other subjects there's no way you'd get a UAI so low that you won't be...

    HELP with changing subjects

Normally you're not meant to commence a new subject past about Term 1 of Year 11. I suppose you could talk to your school about it if you really really want to switch, but you'd have to catch up on a lot of material.
