    Economics

there's an "artificial" honours component which you can do in micro 1, macro 1 and micro 2. basically just an extension of the stuff you learn in the normal lectures. anyone can enroll in these. just think of them as "advanced micro 1, advanced macro 1" etc... quite arbitrary as to why they...

    Economics

if you do the honours stream you do harder material. also if you get say 75 in your honours stream and 85 in your nomal econ1101, then you can choose to drop your honours part and just have the econ1101 mark count. just means you wasted all your effort doing the honours part though, as your...

micro 1 - easy macro 1 - easy micro 2 - slightly harder than econ1101, explains stuff more indepth which you were just given in econ1101. top lecturer... best i've had out of 20 or so lecturers and most of my mates agree too. macro 2 - slightly harder than econ2102, involves a bit of calculus...

    Wireless Internet

pretty sure the coverage is extensive. you connect to it and it'll be like connecting to the ANU network. you get 80Mb of traffic and it tops up every night in 10Mb increments, to a max of 80Mb. that said, 3G wireless internet from 3/vodafone isn't expensive... and could be an option if you...

how does everyone pay for uni?

$50 for a term (Friday 30 January to Thursday 9 April) for unlimited travel. then $8.20 for a ticket which gives you 10 rides, including transfers. i don't think there's a cheaper Australian bus company than action...

how does everyone pay for uni?

also depends on your weekly wage. if you get an APS part time job (a call center monkey, for example), you'll get about $25/hour. do part time - 20 hours a week (this gives you AMPLE time to study aswell) and you'll get $500/week (before tax obviously) which means you can live like royalty. you...

    enrollment day...

yeah that's consistent with what i did two years ago. i didn't realise you needed a passport/documents (something new?) so i didn't bring any and it was cool. i was gonna go to chifley to borrow a book yesterday but i didn't want to drown in the sea of people :(
  16. J

    enrollment day...

not in first year. ANU doesn't want first year kids selecting their own courses on their own, fearing they'll select the wrong choices and realise in 2011 "OMG I CHOSE 8 WRONG UNITS"

Is anyone else freaking out about starting uni?

did you join the mentor program? they hook you up with a later year student and they help you around. i was gonna join (as a mentor) but i can't be screwed signing up and wasting 3 hours attending some induction program. but i can be your (or any other first year) "unofficial" mentor if need...

First Year Law Timetabling and Textbooks

first year clashes are rare but if it happens you have to take it on the chin and time manage better. rock up to one on one week, and alternate. that said attending lectures isn't mandatory to pass or even get good grades. people say they are but it depends heavily on the subject.
