ICALLFORTH: Anyone doing >12 units in HSC year

Yeah, as I told you over the holiday break - this was a big decision for me, and I actually decided I was going to drop. However - I was 'strongly advised' to keep it - at least until the half yearlies and then we can have another interview. So far it's not too much for me - so I thought I...

    Acceleration HSC results issue

In most cases, if you accelerated 2u and 3u - I'd reccomend you do 4u. However I think namu is an exception, because coming 1st in any subject would have awesome scaling. However - I know Namu personally and I know he loves maths, so I can see why he kept 4u.

DUX of school: did not do ESL?

Because some schools are stupid. My school has a pretty fair system. We have three internal aggregates and the Dux is the person who gets the highest UAI. The dux is a lot more fairer as scaling kicks in. As for the ESL - my school's prob 80% from a non-english speaking bakcground however we...

Traveling faster than C(yes i screwed the name up so i made a new one)

From what I know, no. Einstein stated that NOTHING can go beyond the speed of light. According to mass dilation, the object would continue to increase in mass as it accelerated, therefore always stopping it from reaching and exceeding the speed of light. Take c as the infinite value. An...

Yeah I know, but the coordinator wouldn't let based on my marks. He said I'd be better off keeping it.

13 units. School won't let me drop. However I accelerated 3 units last year - but I'm repeating one of them.

how hot does it have to be for us to go home?

At my school - they'd never send us home if it's hot. Usually if it's over 40 degrees then they give us a 'tieless' day - but that's about it.

Can teachers "force" drop you in a subject?

Said my marks were 'solid' and that it would benefit me to keep SDD as it's maths related.

How much study do u do in Holidays?

Although I studied in the holidays - it wasn't full on. So I still had the opportunity to take a break, go out and enjoy myself.

Odlum & Garner? or Success One HSC?

Success One would be my choice. A lot of students seem to use it every year - so you'd expect their solutions to be good.

Can teachers "force" drop you in a subject?

I've been told by my school (and this is what they use to justify themselves) that the Board of Studies states that the final decision is to be made by the principal or his/her representative. So if they think you shouldn't do it - either go to another school, sit it at tafe or just accept the...

    Truongs Maths Tutoring, any comments?

Re: Truong's tutoring, any comments? I agree completely with this post. The important thing is whether his students are happy with his services - and the large majority of students would say yes - I know I'm very happy with Truong's teaching. In my opinion - everybody has a different way of...

Did You Make It To Selective Schools?

I didn't apply - because I didn't know most schools made extra positions. I wish I did though, but the schools which I would have wanted to try for - don't offer positions for Year 12.

    Truongs Maths Tutoring, any comments?

Re: Truong's tutoring, any comments? We have 1 lesson a week which is 1hr and 45 minutes. Unless you do 4U like I do, where you have an additional 1hr 45 min lesson and sometimes we have additional lessons, but they're usually with one of his teachers so they're really cheap (additional...

True that. It was nothing like the old thread which all the oldies on BOS were a part of. To be honest, all the BOS people which I want to be in contact with - are already on my list - the good old members.
